Deku Hero Costume Evolution
Deku is a popular nickname for the protagonist of the series “Izuku Midoriya”. The costume evolution is something that marks the onset of the evolution of the powers of a character of My Hero Academia. Their powers, known as Quirks, play an important role in the change of their pro hero costumes. When one Quirks and combat abilities mature, costumes tend to change and reflect most of their newly gained skills. However, Izuku is still to get labeled as a pro hero but still got considerable variations in costume, which are worth mentioning. So, let’s get started with it and see what all relevance these costumes hold.
Costume “Alpha”
The first costume we got to see on Deku was known as “Alpha,” which was quite comical. It somewhat matched with the western superhero get-up and gave out a nostalgic feel. The suite consists of a full-body green jumpsuit which will more or less stay constant in his every costume. The headpiece of the suit consists of notable long ears which highly resemble All Might’s hair, along with the white teeth like a respirator, which resembles All Might’s smile. This costume appeared in Season 1 and didn’t last more than two episodes yet managed to take place here.

Costume “Beta”
Unlike the previous costume, this one is more suited for a combat’s point of view. We get to see Deku in this costume for the first time in the Hero Killer arc from Season 2. The color and style of the costume stayed constant, but the knee pads became longer, and his respirator changed into a diamond-shaped metal piece. The funky helmet also remained constant, but Deku didn’t wear it anymore. This costume also marks the beginning of his control over one for all. Thanks to the support department, this costume contained some remnants of his mother’s costume, which was held discreet from him.
Costume “Gamma”
You might get confused while differentiating between the Gamma and Beta costumes because of their minor differences. The Gamma costume was designed to give more support to the kicks of Deku and therefore added iron sole in his red shoes. This resulted in the magnification in the power of his kicks and arm braces which eventually resulted in less strain on his arms. Later, Air Force gloves were added to the costume that made Deku’s finger flicks more powerful. This costume made Izuku create his own hero identity rather than mimicking All Might.
Stealth Suit
This suit can also be referred to as a sleeker version of Gamma Suit, and they have a lot of similarities. The costume appeared for the first time in the My Hero Academia movie World Heroes’ Mission. Along with Deku, Katsuki and Shoto also got a newly tailored costume for the film. The color of the costume varied a lot as this one was made in a combination of dark green and black. This became one of the few things that leaked out before the movie could even hit the theatres. The trailer of the movie helped it to spread like wildfire among the fans.
Deku “Vigilante”
The most recent costume that was introduced in the manga of the My Hero Academia is called “Vigilante”. It is more of a form than his costume as it represents his change from a Hero Student to a Vigilante. This costume is much darker and ominous-looking, matching with his darker version and the change of mind. The variation in his thinking is kind of deteriorating as he fought against the Paranormal Liberation Front. Izuku wears both his mark and respirator, and the mid-gauntlets let him access the 45% of the One For All.
The costume clearly shows his resemblance with the very first costume but is far from being called funny. Since it is the costume that let Deku access such a huge portion of One For All makes him powerful than ever, resulting in getting such a jeopardized costume. The intimating look of the costume also represents the burden of the responsibility Deku carries being the successor of One For All.
