A huge shock for Cube Entertainment fans came in this morning when the entertainment agency announced that it has decided to terminate former (G)I-DLE member Soojin’s contract. Furthermore, Cube Entertainment has reasons that the decision was made in light of the results of police investigations in Soojin’s bullying scandal. After CLC’s sudden disbandment, Hyuna and E’Dawn’s dating scandal, Cube Entertainment has once again given its fans a piece of news to frown over.
What Were The Allegations Against Soojin?
For those of you who do not know, Seo Soo Jin more popularly known as Soojin is a singer, dancer, and now a former member of the famous K-pop girl group, (G)I-DLE. Back at the beginning of 2021, things started looking bad for Soojin when not just one but three bullying allegations were made against her just within the span of a week.
Among the accusations, the strongest ones came from a victim who identified themselves as ‘B’ and an actress named Seo Shin Ae. Furthermore, you may know Seo Shin Ae from her role in the hit series High Kick! 2. Following the allegations, Cube Entertainment released a statement saying that all these accusations were false and they are ready to take legal action to protect their artist. However, the agency did not do anything of this sort. And Soojin decided to release a lengthy statement of her own where she did not sugarcoat the situation.
She confessed that she was never an ideal student growing up. However, she has never caused harm to people around her, be it physically or mentally. She also confessed that she met with victim B’s representative. But the tea was when Soojin said that she had never even interacted with Seo Shin Ae, the actress. Soojin’s statement was met with tons of praises and approval from not just fans but also from her former classmates.
Despite all the support and evidence pointing otherwise, Cube Entertainment decided to put Soojin on a hiatus. Fans of (G)I-DLE assumed that this would be a short hiatus to settle down the controversy. However, Cube Entertainment then further released a statement in August of 2021 claiming that Soojin had decided to leave the group by choice. This was met with side-eyes because, in her statement, Soojin had stated that if any of the accusations were proven to be true, then she would leave the group on her own. However, given Cube Entertainment’s history, many fans believe that Soojin was forced to leave.
