In the movie, we see Sir Thomas Sharpe. He is an English baronet and has been traveling to the United States with his sister Lucille. Sir Thomas comes to seek investors for his clay-mining innovation. In 1901, he met Edith, who is a promising author. However, Edith had seen Sharpe’s previous failures to raise money, so she rejected his proposition.
After that, we see Edith’s mother’s ghost appearing to her once more. This time she comes with the same warning. Both Edith’s father and a friend of hers disapprove of her relationship with Sir Thomas. After that, Mr.Cushing contacts Mr.Holly, who is a private investigator. What Were The Shocking Secrets Edith Uncovered About Thomas?
Edith’s suspicions that not everything at Allerdale Hall is as it seems are confirmed when she discovers a trunk full of documents. She also finds a stash of wax cylinder recordings that one of the ghosts showed her. Along with that, Edith found out that Thomas had already been married many times. He had kept this hidden from Edith. Also, she finds recordings in which one of Thomas’ ex-wives is saying she is being poisoned to death by Thomas and his sister.
Edith recalls that Lucille had been making her tea on a regular basis since she arrived at Allerdale Hall. She had felt the tea was to blame when she became ill. The recording she found reinforced her suspicions. Edith is heartbroken by the news that Thomas is participating in these evil plans being her lover. She had the impression of their marriage going stable. They had gone to a beautiful place for a night away, and Edith believed that was a significant step toward growing closeness. Unfortunately, there was only sad news for Edith. Later, she is visited by a ghost. The ghost takes Edith to Lucille’s room, where she discovers Thomas and Lucille sharing a bed. They’ve been in an incestuous relationship since infancy, and the only way they’ve managed to keep their ancestral home is for Thomas to marry wealthy ladies and then murder them for their inheritances. At the end of the movie, Edith nearly succumbs to the nefarious schemes of Thomas and his sister. However, she manages to save herself from them. Thomas and his sister wanted to poison Edith slowly. They were waiting until she had signed over her family’s money to Thomas before committing the crime. Although, Thomas begins to have second thoughts. In the plot twist, Thomas is murdered by his own sister for wanting to help Edith survive instead of murdering her as they planned.
After murdering her brother, Lucille claims she would not stop until she has also killed Edith. At this point, Edith has no choice but to murder Lucille. Edith saves herself and also Alan, who flew from New York to rescue her from the Sharpes.
