Chicago PD Season 9 Episode 20 Recap

The episode starts with a murder. The killer entertained his victims before he murdered them. The victims were an elderly couple. They have lived in that residence without incident for many years. Before murdering the couple, the killer broke into their home, cooked them dinner, stayed with them for hours, and forced them to bathe in bleach. The pair was even photographed after their deaths.

It was a strange case. It’s something the investigators have never seen before. However, this assassin must have done it before. The killer understood how to clean up after himself, and he did not violate Mrs. Grace or her husband. He played with them—both literally and metaphorically. The crime had involved a board game.

Voight’s Inquiries

Voight and his crew solved this case. They looked into any similar issues. The lone lead was provided by a young boy named Daniel. Daniel was three years old at the time he was discovered jogging. After breaking into his parents’ RV and playing with them, he claimed that a guy urged him to flee. This man had forced his folks to bathe in a foul-smelling bath. Daniel was also required to take a bath.

He stated that it was painful. The man recalls weeping and being instructed to stop. Daniel was only three years old, so he couldn’t remember anything else. Or, to put it another way, anything useful. The detectives working on his case assumed it was all made up and that Daniel was making up lies.

Cops Dig In

The cops suspected that Daniel had been abused at the time. They questioned whether he made up a story to benefit him in the long run, so they brought in a slew of child psychologists. Only one of them suspected Daniel could be telling the truth. Voight and his colleagues located Daniel and asked him whether he would be willing to answer questions. Daniel is now a married guy with a child.

No Culprit Found

The parallels between the cases are How Daniel’s recollection was not made up. That’s what persuaded Daniel to assist the cops. He told them all he remembered about the last time he saw his parents, including how youthful and attractive they were. He shared his memories of being adored.

Despite what everyone told him, he doesn’t believe he was molested, and the squad now believes him after witnessing the latest deaths. However, the team later realized why no one trusted Daniel. His story seemed to be made up. He recalls pink snow falling from the sky and the board games they played when the stranger entered their home.

Loose Ends

The team investigated every residence built by the construction crew in the city. They came upon a man who had a history of being a peeping tom and having protective orders issued against him. Jim Wheaton is his name. Wheaton worked on the Graces’ house as a carpet installer in the past. Wheaton, too had a difficult childhood.

However, the team lacked physical evidence of Wheaton’s culpability. They tried to get him to talk, but he refused. He remained silent the entire time. He knew the team didn’t have anything against him, so they came up with the crazy concept of looking for errors. Not mistakes in his present murders, but mistakes in Daniel’s parent’s murders. There was an old RV in the woods, and Daniel’s family owned it. Mark and Isabella were his parents’ names. The dental records helped identify them. They also left behind an old camera, which the crew eventually gave Daniel. And he saw a younger version of himself with his parents, and he saw how much they loved him.
