It is a sad day indeed as Peter Robbins, who voiced the favourite children character, Charlie Brown has passed away. Robbins started blending his voice in the Peanuts cartoons from the 1960s onwards. The actor gained so much fame and went on to get a tattoo of the beloved character. The entire world would remember the man who gave life to such a beloved character.
Robbins considered Charlie Brown to be his childhood hero. The Charlie Brown voice actor suffered from bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. It has been reported that he died by suicide. His family further confirmed the devastating news as they are navigating their lives through this extremely difficult situation.
Peter Robbins Had Earlier Opened Up About His Mental Health Struggles
The actor had to go through a five-year prison term as he was found guilty of making criminal threats against several people. These people included includes San Diego County Sheriff William Gore. The Charlie Brown star later admitted that he became a better person for it and have become much more humble as well. He was grateful that was able to be through the experience. Peter further added that he went on a manic phase during his prison term. This made him make a few impulsive purchases that included a motor home, a mobile home, two German sports cars and a pitbull named Snoopy. He might have taken ideas from the comic strip character.
The late actor shed light on how mental struggles can affect your whole life as he recommended people who were suffering from bipolar disorder to take it seriously. He believed that mental illness can turn one’s life can turn around in a month as it did to him. Robbins also did spend some time in rehab while tackling his addiction issues. The actor had opened up about his love for the character and said that Charlie Brown fans are the best. It is indeed heartbreaking to see such a gifted artist having to go through such struggles in life.
