CBS has officially decided to stop S.W.A.T. after its upcoming eighth season. This decision may not be surprising because the show has already been canceled twice before. Fans may find it frustrating to see these changes happening again.
The action series built a loyal audience over the years. In May 2023, CBS first announced that it would cancel the show after six seasons. However, just a few days later, the network changed its mind and renewed the series for a seventh season. At that time, CBS stated that Season 7 would be the last.
Then, in another unexpected turn, the network renewed the show for Season 8 in May 2024. Now, CBS has made it clear that this will be the final goodbye for Shemar Moore’s popular police drama.
CBS has also canceled other crime shows recently, including FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International. Some fans might hope that S.W.A.T. will return again, but according to Deadline, there is no reason to expect another revival. In the past, Sony Pictures Television convinced CBS to keep the series going, but this time, the network has made its final decision.

What the S.W.A.T. Team Says About the End
With the news of the cancellation, fans can expect emotional farewell messages from the cast. Executive producer and showrunner Andrew Dettmann has already shared his thoughts.
“It’s heartbreaking news, primarily because it’s been such an immense pleasure working with this cast and crew to put out a show that we’ve always been proud of.

They are truly an extraordinary group of people who have all worked so hard and have been so dedicated for all these eight seasons, overcoming countless challenges. I can’t give them enough credit. I feel so privileged to have been a part of the S.W.A.T. family.”
