MAMA 2021 has confirmed that BTS will not be appearing at the ceremony. The reason behind their absence is reasonably acceptable, and the South Korean Government is also siding with the decision. BTS is currently in LA, performing at SoFi stadium, their first offline concert line-up after two years. Because of the coronavirus, the septet did not organize any offline concert. However, now that they have, cases of a new emerging variant of the virus are rising daily.
On December 2, 2021, a source from MAMA shared the news with Sports Donga. They mentioned that BTS was supposed to attend the Mnet Asian Music Awards 2021, but they will not be attending it now. Moreover, filing a live performance is difficult at the moment. Hence, they are looking forward to getting a recorded video message for the fans by BTS.
BTS To Not Attend MAMA 2021
The South Korean Government is taking strict actions against the people arriving in the country after the rise of the Omicron COVID-19 variant. The tightened restrictions will also apply to the boy band, BTS. Considering that the band is currently in LA, USA, they will practice self-quarantine for ten days after returning to their hometown.
Anyone entering the South Korean borders after December 3 will have to follow the rules. And with BTS having the ‘Jingle Ball 2021’ performance lined up after their PTD LA concert, the boys will undoubtedly return to South Korea after December 3.
Since MAMA 2021 will take place on December 11, it will be difficult for the boy group to attend the event since they will be self-quarantining.
