Brooklyn 99 Season 6 Release Date, Cancellation By Fox, Cast, And Episodes

It hasn’t been an easy year (May) for fans of Brooklyn 99. I am one of those. I mean who doesn’t love this Andy Samberg comedy? Now we went on a roller coaster ride this May when Fox in an inexplicable move canceled the show. But that’s not where the story ends. The show was resurrected a day later by production company Universal TV’s sister network NBC. While many expected Netflix or Hulu to step up and be the hero, in the end, it was NBC. The cancellation of Brooklyn 99 wasn’t a quiet one. Fans were outraged on the internet and otherwise.

NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt was quick to comment on the move. “Ever since we sold this show to Fox I’ve regretted letting it get away, and it’s high time it came back to its rightful home,” Robert said. He even mentioned how Mike Schur, Dan Goor, and Andy Samberg have grown up on NBC. Robert is thrilled that the smartest, funniest and best cast comedies in a long time will be a part of NBC’s Comedy line-up.

Brooklyn 99 Season 6: Release Date

Fans of Brooklyn 99 may know that traditionally it has aired mid-to-late September. But Season 6 is going to be a bit different. It’s not going to air in 2018 at all. But don’t know, given the developments that took place, what can we expect? NBC though has confirmed that Brooklyn 99 will make it to our screens in the early half of 2019. We do not have an exact slot for Brooklyn 99. But it’s supposedly going to take the place of Michael Schur’s The Good Place. Therefore Brooklyn 99 will air on Thursdays nights.

For fans of Brooklyn 99 in the United Kingdom, you may know that the show makes it UK screens months after it’s US premiere. Therefore in the UK, it’s likely that E4 will just continue to air the show.

Brooklyn 99 Season 6: Cast

So the following people are going to be back for Season 6. They include:
Andy Samberg (Jake Peralta), Stephanie Beatriz (Rosa Diaz), Terry Crews (Terry Jeffords), Melissa Fumero (Amy Santiago), Joe Lo Truglio (Charles Boyle), Chelsea Peretti (Gina Linetti), Andre Braugher (Raymond Holt), Dirk Blocker (Michael Hitchcock) and Joel McKinnon Miller (Norm Scully), Marc Evan Jackson (Kevin Costner). That’s pretty much the regular cast of the show.

We’ll also see guest stars such as:

Dean Winters (The Vulture), Craig Robinson (Doug Judy), Jason Mantzoukas (Adrian Pimento) and Kyra Sedgwick (Madeline Wuntch).

Brooklyn 99 Season 6: Episodes

Expect a major cut in the number of episodes of Brooklyn 99. NBC did shop the show, no doubt. At the same time, Season six would only be 13 episodes long, compared to previous seasons which have always been 22 or 23 episodes long. Why did that happen you ask? Season 6 is long planned as the final Season of the show. So the Network wanted to shorten the stories. Melissa Fumero also confirmed this on Instagram. She said, “Thank you to NBC for giving us the opportunity to finish this special show!!”

Andy Samberg at the same time isn’t all the sure that Season 6 will be the last of Brooklyn 99. He’s given us a 100% no and stated that he’s hoping that the show will be renewed for Season 7 too. According to him, he’s just trying to be confident is all.
