Warner Bros. announced the next anime film of Keiichi Hara. Keiichi Hara is a well known director and his next movie’s has been confirmed. Keiichi Hara next movie is Birthday Wonderland. The movie is an adaptation of Sachiko Kashiwaba’s 1988 book Chikashitru Kara no Fushigi na Tabi (Strange Journey From The Basement). The movie is slated to be released in Japan on April 26.
So far the staff for movie has revealed a promotional video along with two teaser visuals. The characters and the visuals are being done by Russian artist Ilya Kuvshinov. Miho Marou will pen the script for the movie. The protagonist of the movie is Akane and Akane will be voiced by Mayu Matsuoka. This will be Matsuoka’s first anime role.
The story follows Akane, who is a girl with no self-confidence. Just one day before her birthday, Akane meets an alchemist named, Hippocrates and their student Pipo. Both of them tell Akane that they are on a mission to save the world together. The group set out from the basement and head to”Wonderland.” All of a sudden the girl finds herself being labelled Wonderland’s savior.
Hara previously announced in 2017 that his next work would be a “female adventure fantasy.” Hara’s most recent work, Miss Hokusai, debuted in May 2015. The film won the Jury Prize at Annecy in June 2015.
Hara is known for his work on the Crayon Shin-chan anime series. Afterwards, he started to gain some serious attention for films such as Crayon Shin-chan: Arashi o Yobu Appare! Sengoku Daikassen (Crayon Shin-chan; Brilliant! The Great Battle of the Warring States) and Summer Days with Coo.
Hara received the Jury’s Special Distinction and the Audience Award for the bittersweet film Colorful at Annecy 2011.
