Hyeri met Ryu Jun Yeol on the set of the 2015 hit drama, Reply 1998. They portrayed the role of childhood friends, Deok Sun and Jung Hwan. The two got closer while playing onscreen friends.
Soon after the show, the singer also revealed that she turned to Ryu Jun Yeol for personal help. Back then, she said that she was wondering if the viewers will empathize with the pain her character is feeling on the show. Hence, she called Ryu Jun Yeol two days before the shooting segment. Hyeri admitted that they were not very close at that time, so she had to pick up the courage to call him. She told that after asking him for help, he taught her, and it was the best.
