Superhero movies are a huge part of pop culture nowadays. There are very few people who do not love a good superhero movie. Viewers’ preferences may vary between Marvel and DC but both cinematic universes are popular nonetheless. One such movie is the upcoming American superhero movie based on the DC Comics character, Aquaman 2 or Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. This new movie will follow Aquaman, as he forges an uneasy alliance with an unlikely ally to save Atlantis and the rest of the planet. The movie is produced by DC Films, The Safran Company, and Atomic Monster Productions as well.
The film stars Jason Momoa in the titular role as Arthur Curry A.K.A. Aquaman. It also stars Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul Mateen II, Temuera Morrison, and Nicole Kidman. They play Mera, Nuidis Vulko, Orm Marius, King Nereus, David Kane A.K.A. Black Manta, Thomas Curry, and Atlanna.

Aquaman Plot
In case you have not watched the first movie, here is a quick summary of what the movie was about so you have an idea of what the next movie would be like. As the name suggests, Aquaman’s plot revolves around Arthur Curry A.K.A. Aquaman. During a storm, lighthouse keeper Thomas Curry rescued Atlanna, the queen of the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, in 1985 Maine. They then fall in love and have a son named Arthur, who has the power to communicate with sea creatures.
Atlanna is later forced to leave her family to protect them from her people after she defeats the Atlantean soldiers sent by King Orvax arrive to retrieve her, as she fled her arranged marriage in Atlantis. She entrusts her advisor, Nuidis Vulko, to train Arthur after she promises to return when it is safe to do so and goes back to Atlantis. Arthur and his father later find out that Atlanna was executed.
The rest of the movie follows Arthur saving the planet from an enemy. He also later learns that his mother is still alive. In the end, Arthur reclaims the trident, which grants him control over the seven seas, and voices his determination to protect both Atlantis and the surface after he faces the Karathen, a mythical leviathan, and keeper of the trident. Arthur, with Mera, Karathen, and the Trench then leads an army of marine creatures against Orm, as he leads his army against the kingdom of the Brine to declare himself Ocean Master.
Upon learning that Arthur wields Atlan’s trident, Orm’s followers embrace him as the true king. After discovering that Arthur rescued their mother, yes, Orm also happens to be Arthur’s half-brother, he accepts his imprisonment after Arthur defeats him but spares his life. Arthur then ascends to the throne, while Atlanna reunites with Thomas as promised.

Aquaman 2 Release Date Delayed!
Aquaman 2 A.K.A. Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom, has been delayed till March 17th, 2023 from December 16th, 2022. Meanwhile, in better news, Shazam! Fury Of The Gods has been moved up to December 16th, 2022 from its original June 2nd, 2023 release date. In Fact, Aquaman 2 is not the only movie that has been delayed. Warner Bros. has also delayed The Flash from November 4th, 2022 to June 23rd, 2023. The Shazam sequel will be going up against the long-awaited Avatar 2, which will open in December date.
The delay is reportedly due to the pandemic causing a delay to visual effects on some movies. Aquaman 2, is more of a mystery, but sees Jason Momoa back as Arthur Curry, with Amber Heard and Patrick Wilson also reprising their Aquaman roles. It is not at all surprising that we are still experiencing release date pushes due to pandemic delays.
Having movie releases continually pushed back is going to be the future for a while as some movies were delayed from the inability to film, while many films are already finished and ready for release. Unfortunately, a delay to finish up the films and their CGI work makes a lot of sense, even though it did seem promising that everything would go according to plan, especially with the most recent Warner Bros. release, The Batman.
