“Why, precisely, do you think I have served as Captain-Commander of the Gotei 13 for a thousand years? Because in all those thousand years, no Shinigami was born to rival me in strength.”

This is the start of series of character reviews for bleach characters. Since the manga ended, I wanna bring up some pleasant memories for you. The first character is none other than the squad one captain, Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto.

Date of Birth: January 21

Age: More than 2100 years

Appearance:

From his first appearance to his death, he stayed the same. Longbeard, old age and white captain coat on normal shinigami uniform. He carries a long wooden staff that has his Zanpakto hidden in it. He is quite muscular and has great physical strength. There are lots of scars on his body.

Zanpakto:

His Zanpakto, Ryūjin Jakka,  is oldest and strongest fire type to ever exist. It has more offense than any other Zanpakto in soul society. Yamamoto had an immense amount of experience in battle.

Shikai: Ryujin Jakka

Reduce All Creation to Ash is the release command of Shikai. The fire incinerates everything it touches down to ashes. The intense release of his Shikai releases a lot of Reiatsu. it was enough to scare a lieutenant level personnel to almost faint.

Bankai: Zaka no Tachi

When the Bankai is released, the flames just disappear. Only a blade remains. The heat in this blade can resemble that of the Sun. The four directions of his Bankai are quite calamitous.

Overall Power:

His strength is the destructive power of his Zanpakto.During the Quincy war, he could have taken down many more Quincies easily if Yhwach had not come, just with his Shikai.

He is experienced and believes in his power. The fact that he was able to fight against Aizen even after his Zanpakto was sealed is amazing. He has totally mastered his Zanpakto. He has different techniques that use his flames to a genius level. The Bankai takes his fire to another level. It can destroy the entire soul society along with him.

“Imperturbable and like an unmovable pivot.” – Tite Kubo
