American Crime Story Season 3 Episode 2 will mark the unraveling of truths about Bill Clinton’s affair. Probably, anyway, American Crime Story embarked on its third season titled,” Impeachment” retelling the events of the Clinton–Lewinsky scandal taking cues from Jeffrey Toobin’s book A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Story of the Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President.
American Crime Story is so far has established the benchmark and buildup for the story they are telling in the first episode. This time using time jumps taking us from one important event to another. It all began with Monica Lewinsky being taken in by the FBI in 1998. Then moved to the time when Vince Foster killed himself. Then to the time Paula Jones coming out to file a case against Bill Clinton. Lastly, the time Linda started coming close to finding out about Monica’s affair. Here is what went down.
American Crime Story Season 3 Episode 1 Recap
The premiere of American Crime Story Season 3 opens in January 1998, Washington, D.C. Monica Lewinsky is packing up to leave for New York. She bids adieu to a number of people she knows from cafe shop to gym. Until Linda Tripp hits her with news and asks to meet. When Monica meets her she comes along with two FBI officers. They tell Monica that she is connected to the Paula Jones lawsuit. Linda couldn’t keep up with Monica as she is officers took her to meet Mike Emmick, a Member of the Office of Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr.
The story jumps five years into the past. Tripp works as a secretary to Vince Foster at the White House Council’s Office. We meet her friend Kathleen who brings up the rumor of Vince and Hillary’s affair. We meet Vince Foster as well tensed watching TV. Until he suddenly takes off leaving most of his belongings behind to kill himself out in the woods. Linda later finds out about it at night on TV and is the officers block her the next day at work. Bernard “Bernie” Nussbaum helps her get in and an agent carrying out a box named “Whitewater” triggers her.
The show jumps to January 1994 in Long Beach, California. We see Paula Jones returning with her baby after a walk as she looks at the newspaper with the headline “His Cheatin’ Heart” featuring Bill Clinton. The fact that reports say she might be the one having affair with doesn’t fit with her husband Steve. They meet a lawyer named Daniel and Paula tells her side of the story saying Clinton forced himself on her before she walked away.
Meanwhile, Lucianne Goldberg questions Tripp about Vince’s death but instead, she tells of another affair of the President. Paula later faces the people and is assured of an apology but it would be hard. She doesn’t file a lawsuit but instead gives something else in return. It was just a matter of time Paula realizes she can’t let him get away with it and files the lawsuit. A tiff appears when Linda who tried to get a job for her friend Kathleen, well she ends up replacing Linda herself,
The episode comes to a close jumping to April of 1996. We see Monica getting her private office at the Department of Defense Press Office at the Pentagon. As she connects with Linda at the same place, we realize Linda is onto something. At the same time, Monica receives a call from Bill Clinton himself.

American Crime Story Season 3 Episode 2 is titled,”The President Kissed Me”. The official synopsis of the episode says Monica may finally decide to come clean to Linda. The final moments of the previous episode saw Linda realizing Bill Clinton had personally called Monica to ask her about the first day. So it seems like Monica does have an affair with Clinton and she might finally come clean to her new friend.
