Devil Fruits are mysterious fruits scattered throughout different parts of the world. These are the main power source in One Piece (other than Haki) that grants the eater to have an everlasting superhuman power. However, this power comes at a cost since the devil fruit users get a permanent inability to swim. Devil Fruits harness a number of powers, all different from each other. The power of a devil fruit ranges from Minute quirks to mass-destructive abilities.
Another interesting fact about these devil fruits is that a person can only acquire the powers of one Devil Fruit. If they do try to consume more than one devil fruit, the situation will become fatal. Throughout the series, there are several Devil fruits. These are broadly grouped into three categories, Paramecia, Logia, and Zoan. Other than that, some artificial man-made Devil Fruits work similarly. And so today, we’ll be taking a look at all the Types of Devil fruits in One Piece.
1. Paramecia-type Devil fruit
Paramecia is the most common amongst all the other Devil Fruit types. Paramecia-type Devil Fruits enable their eaters to gain superhuman powers other than animal transformation. Paramecia Fruits can completely change the features and properties of the user’s body. The biggest example would be the main Protagonist, Luffy, who ate a Paramecia Type devil fruit, and his body turned into rubber, with all its properties implied.

2. Logia-type Devil fruit
It is the rarest and hence the most powerful amongst the three Devil Fruit types. Logia-type Devil Fruits allow its user to create, control, and alter their body into some core element. This would include fire, ice, smoke, mud, or darkness. This type of devil fruit allows the user to transform parts of their body. This makes them almost intangible since when their transformed body is struck physically without the use of Haki, the user’s real body will sustain no damages at all, even when their body seems to be scattered.

They also gain abilities related to their element. One example of this situation can be how crocodiles’ powers work. Zoan-type Devil Fruit users can transform into an animal. Ranging from several animals, as well as hybrid forms of their species, it has a rather interesting property as Zoan Fruits can even be integrated into objects. This means that the objects can be brought to life, enabling them to transform. It’s certainly the most complex type of devil fruit as it has several classifications. This includes:

These Zoan Fruits allow their user to transform into some extinct species, like dinosaurs. These are one of the rarest types of devil fruit, making them stronger than the rest of the Regular Zoan Fruits.

Artificial Zoan
Wano arc is filled with these Artificially created Zoan Fruit users. It causes the user to permanently possess an animal characteristic. These Artificial Zoan Fruits only have a 10% success rate. The remaining 90% is totally doomed as the person who eats it wouldn’t gain any animal traits. They will lose their ability to swim, and worst of all, they become unable to express negative emotions. This means even if they wish to cry, they will only be able to smile and laugh. These Artificial Fruits were developed by Donquixote Doflamingo as well as the mysterious Doctor Vegapunk.
Seeing the failure of this Artificial devil fruit, it was named SMILE created from a chemical known as SAD. The biggest difference between a natural Zoan type devil fruit and SMILE is that only a part of its user’s body will transform into an animalistic creature.

These Devil fruits don’t come with a traditional name. They are simply made of two words, the first one indicating the animal into which the user transforms and the second word being “SMILE”. So far, there have been several SMILE Users in Kaido’s beast army. Some of these are Sheep SMILE, Mouse SMILE, Bat SMILE, Elephant SMILE, Alpaca SMILE, Hippopotamus SMILE, Horse SMILE, Lion SMILE, and many more that makes it sound like a Classic Japanese version of Madagascar.
4. Uncategorised Devil Fruits
While all the devil fruits are divided into three categories, some devil fruits fall under none of them. These include Laffitte’s Devil Fruit, which is still unnamed. It allows him to sprout wings like an angel and use them to fly. And lastly, Karasu’s Devil Fruit allows him to turn his entire body as well as clothes into a bunch of crows. Every single one of these crows has the capacity to lift an average-sized person.
