The My Happy Marriage OVA, titled My Shape of Happiness, is now streaming on Netflix. Released in celebration of Japan’s Good Couples Day on November 22, the episode adds depth to the story following the anime’s first season.
Previously bundled with the Blu-ray release of the eighth light novel volume in March, the OVA takes place after the final episode of the season.
It features a new storyline centered around a party held after Miyo Saimori’s etiquette lessons and introduces a fresh character, Hazuki’s son, Asahi.
Fans can also enjoy the newly revealed key visual and trailer for Season 2, which is set to premiere in January 2025.
Studio Kinema Citrus handled the animation for the first season and continues with Season 2. The OVA showcases the franchise’s beautifully detailed storytelling and world-building, offering fans a chance to delve deeper into the lives of the characters.
The main voice cast includes Reina Ueda as Miyo Saimori, Kaito Ishikawa as Kiyoka Kudo, and Ayane Sakura as Kaya Saimori, along with other talented actors.
With its stunning visuals and heartfelt plot, the series continues to charm fans worldwide.
The light novel, authored by Akumi Agitogi, first gained popularity on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website before being officially published by Fujimi L Bunko in 2019, with illustrations by Tsukiho Tsukioka.
A manga adaptation by Rito Kohsaka further expanded its reach, and Yen Press has brought the novels to English-speaking audiences, while Square Enix handles the manga adaptation.
The franchise even inspired a live-action film released in March 2023, showcasing its versatility across different media.
The story revolves around Miyo Saimori, a girl mistreated by her stepmother for lacking supernatural powers despite her noble lineage.
Viewed as talentless, her family arranges for her to marry Kiyoka Kudo, a man infamous for his unkind demeanor.
However, instead of cruelty, Miyo finds compassion in Kiyoka, and their bond grows stronger as they discover love and mutual respect.
With Kiyoka’s support, Miyo begins to unlock hidden abilities, marking a significant turning point in her life.
The OVA’s exploration of Miyo’s transformation into a more confident and self-assured woman offers fans a peek of her growth after the first season’s events.
Introducing new dynamics, such as her interactions with Asahi, the son of Hazuki Kudo, the episode highlights the importance of family, healing, and trust.
These themes resonate deeply with the audience, making it a meaningful addition to the story.
As fans eagerly anticipate Season 2, the My Happy Marriage franchise continues to amaze audiences with its mix of emotional depth, beautiful animation, and relatable characters.
The upcoming season promises to delve further into Miyo and Kiyoka’s journey, with new challenges and developments awaiting them.
Meanwhile, the OVA serves as a heartfelt bridge between seasons, celebrating the characters’ growth and relationships while leaving fans excited for what’s next.
