"Black Lightning" Season 4 Episode 4 was released 2 days ago and here's all you need to know about it.

“Black Lightning”, the American TV series based on DC Comics is back with its fourth and final season and has already released 4 episodes. Created by Berlanti Productions and DC Entertainment, the show premiered its first season on 16th January 2018 on The CW. It aired 13 episodes in its first season. The viewers loved the show as it received some really great reviews and ratings. Consequently, in April 2018, The CW renewed the series for another season which they released on 9th October 2018. The fans were in love with the show once again and hence, in January 2019, The CW renewed the show for a third season. This debuted on 7th October 2019 which saw a drop in the ratings but in January 2020, The CW renewed the series for a fourth and final season.

“Black Lightning” is an American superhero TV series based on the DC Comics character Jefferson Pierce a.k.a Black Lightning. Berlanti Productions, DC Entertainment, Akil Productions, and Warner Bros. Television have produced the series. The story is set in arrowverse as it shares continuity with the other TV series of the production house. Salim Akil was its showrunner since the first season. The final season had been ordered in January 2020. However, its released date had to be pushed a little due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, the series just began with its fourth i.e. the final season.

The show is based on the life of Jefferson Pierce. He is a high school principal who took retirement from his superhero identity of ‘Black Lightning’ 9 years ago. The sole reason behind it was that his superhero identity started having a bad impact on his family’s life. However, he has to retain his identity and rise as the superhero he once was because of The 100, a local gang. The rise of this gang leads to an increase in corruption and crime in his community of Freeland. In this final season, the story continues as Jefferson returns as a high school counselor. But, he continues to fight against the local corruption in his community to keep everyone safe. Anyhow, let us now take a look at the cast of the series.

Cast:

Cress Williams as Jefferson Pierce a.k.a Black Lightning: Cress Williams is an American actor who is popular for his role in “Prison Break”. Some of his other works include “Close to Home”, “Hart of Dixie”, and “Living Single”.

China Anne McClain as Jennifer Pierce a.k.a Lightning: China Anne McClain is an American singer and actress. She is popular for doing movies and series like “Sheep and Wolves”, “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne”, and “Descendants: Wicked World”.

Nafessa Williams as Anissa Pierce a.k.a Thunder: Nafessa Williams is an American actress who has done many movies and TV shows to date. Some of her works include “Burning Sands”, “The Bold and the Beautiful”, and “Black and Blue”.

Christine Adams as Lynn Stewart: Christine Adams is an English-American model and actress. She is best known for doing movies like “Batman Begins”, “The Whole Truth”, and “NY-LON”.

Marvin “Krondon” Jones III as Tobias Whale: Krondon is an American actor and rapper from LA, California. He has been a part of films like “Harry’s Law”, “Into the Dark”, and “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse”.

Jordan Calloway as Khalil Payne a.k.a Painkiller: Jordan Calloway is an American actor who is popular for his role of Zach Carter-Schwartz in the series “Unfabulous”. He has also done movies and shows like “Countdown”, “Beyond”, and “Riverdale”.

Chantal Thuy as Grace Choi: Chantal Thuy is a Canadian actress. She has been a part of several movies and series like “Half Magic”, “Matador”, and “Battle for Skyark”.

What exactly happened at the end of Season 4 Episode 4?

Jefferson:

By the end of episode 4, we saw that Jefferson is not in a really great place. Lynn didn’t come clean with him about dinner with Tobias. This leads to provoking Jefferson to confront the other man. However, nothing good comes from it. Consequently, he goes to La La’s fight club, the place he has been frequently visiting for over a week. Anyhow, TC is watching a fight online and ends up telling Jen that her father is one of the fighters. Later on, Jefferson goes to a bar after confronting Lynn. There, Detective Hassan Shakur revealed what good Black Lightning had done. He also stated how the hero saved him. This leads to Jefferson getting instigated to return home and mend his differences with his family.

Anissa and Grace:

Anissa and Grace come home. The former had earlier put Grace’s everything in storage. Anyhow, now Grace wants to get some of her things. However, Anissa rejects her as it is ‘her’ loft. But, Anissa comes to her senses later on. So, she gifts Grace a new copy of the comic book she had when they first met. Later on, they team up to go to the homeless encampment to the mayor’s event. Here, Grace takes on her own vigilante identity i.e. Wylde.

Jen:

Jen (Lightning) goes with Grace (Wylde) and Anissa (Blackbird) to the mayor’s event. Here, La La’s people show up and intervene to try and save the mayor and the officials at the event. Unfortunately, things get messed up as the mayor is shot and killed. The new police chief who had been monitoring Lightning’s social media blames the young hero. Anyhow, later on, Jen goes into the ionosphere, but that also goes wrong. She kind of becomes overpowered and thereby explodes into energy particles in the darkness.

Gambi:

With TC’s help, Gambi inserts the new DEGs with a design flaw. It makes them busy for a few days until launch but it helps Lauren to trust Gambi further. She comes over to his apartment and they spend some intimate time together. After that, she brings him on to another secret project of hers i.e. a mysterious renewable energy source.

Tobias:

The truth about the mayor’s death comes out that it was all Tobias’ doing. He had manipulated the mayor into conducting the event at the homeless encampment. Then, he fed La La the information about all of it. This led to triggering the shootout and then Tobias had one of his own henchmen kill the mayor with a police-issued bullet. Consequently, Tobias uses the death of the mayor as an opportunity to exert his power further. As a result, he is able to make the people of Freeland to trust him.
