Xbox has made its first move which is the reveal of the Xbox Series S which is 60% smaller than Xbox Series X. There is a number of differences in the two but Xbox Series S will still be good for players as it has a lot of good hardware in which will make the user’s gaming experience enjoyable. This console wasn’t revealed first by Xbox, instead, it was leaked by a twitter user at first but after some time, Xbox made the official announcement which revealed all the details about Xbox Series S. This console won’t have a disk-drive but instead it comes equipped with a custom NVME 512GB SSD that is powered by Xbox Velocity Architecture. What this means is that this Series S will take advantage of many next-generation features which include variable-rate shading, variable refresh rates, ultra-low latency, DirectX Ray-tracing as well as incredibly fast load times and “seamless game switching.
All of these specifications of Xbox Series S will make sure that the game you play will look better, run smoothly than the Xbox One X or PS4 Pro. The GPU of Series X and Series S is different which could be the reason why it doesn’t have a high price. The Xbox Series S will support up to 120 frames per second, games will run at a maximum, native resolution of 1440p. It will also support offer crisper and more dynamic performance at 1080p. Furthermore, Microsoft has promised that the Xbox Series S will be supporting 4K streaming media playback and 4K upscaling for games.
There will be plenty of games available on Xbox Series S as it will be supporting all Xbox One games, Xbox 360, and original Xbox games too. Moreover, Xbox Series S will also support all upcoming Xbox Series X games which include Halo Infinite, Fable 4, and Everwild. With no disk drive, the main focus will be on Game Pass, Project xCloud, and Xbox Live. Xbox Game Pass is an attractive subscription service which will be offering over 100 games for you to download, and its sync up with PC players and Android users through xCloud, which is also part of a Game Pass Ultimate subscription. As for the price, Microsoft has even confirmed the price of the console which is only $299. It is pretty cheap and affordable for many people which is a great move to increase their sales.
It is much cheaper than the upcoming Xbox which is $499 and because of the rate, Xbox Series S will reach a bigger audience than before. This generation looks good for Xbox and it will hopefully be a good rival to PlayStation this generation. As for release date, Xbox Series S will be releasing alongside Xbox Series X on 10 November 2020. The pre-order for the consoles will start this month on 25 September 2020. There hasn’t been any announcement for Sony on what the price of the PlayStation 5 will be or when it will be releasing. Bug with Xbox making their move, Sony will also start to unveil details on their upcoming console.
