Where Is A Cut Above Filmed?
The series is said to have been filmed in the heart of Squamish, British Columbia, last spring. The show is set to air 12 episodes, and every episode has been shot in Squamish.

Due to the Western Red Cedar the contestants are working with, Squamish was the ideal location for this show. Many of these carvers had never worked with that particular kind of wood. Also, the surroundings were lovely.
Who Are The Judges Of A Cut Above?
The co-judge of the competition, Ryan Cook, began wielding a chainsaw in 2011 and has been working in the industry ever since. He had previously starred in the HGTV and Netflix series Carver Kings, but Saw Dogs was his first on-screen debut as a carver.

In his debut production, he was initially hired to portray an apprentice. He now owns his own business, Saw Valley Carvings Inc., and has earned a name for himself in the chainsaw carving industry. Cook is a Vancouver resident who competes in events all over the world.
He entered his first professional contest at the Campbell River Carving Competition in 2013. Katharine Dawson, another co-judge, enjoys fusing art with science and medicine. She frequently works with scientists and draws inspiration from nature, medicine, and science.
As part of her Silent Stories collection, she has made casts for cancer patients in the past. She used a laser to carve her cousin’s brain tumor in glass for her collection, Memory of a Brain Malformation.
