Park Ji-min, popularly known as Jimin, is a singer, songwriter, and dancer of the popular South Korean band BTS. BTS Member Jimin was born on 13 October 1995 in Busan, where he grew up with his parents and younger brother. He made his debut on 13 June 2013 as a member of BTS on Mnet’s M Countdown with the release of “No More Dream”. It was the song from their debut album, “2 Cool 4 Skool”. He released three solo songs for BTS; “Lie”, “Serendipity”, and “Filter”. “Lie” was released as part of BTS’s second Korean studio album titled “Wings”. Both “Lie” and “Serendipity” had more than fifty million streams on Spotify in 2018.

In February 2019, “Filter” became the biggest streaming debut, setting a record for the highest number of streams among all Korean songs on Spotify with over 2.2 million streams. The song reached that number of streams within twenty-four hours of its release, making it the fastest Korean solo in the platform’s history to cross 20 million streams. Furthermore, “Filter” is the only BTS solo to receive a nomination at Gaon Chart Music Awards for the song of the year category.

Along with the other members of BTS, Jimin received the fifth-class Hwagwan Order of Cultural Merit by the President of South Korea in October 2018, for their contributions to the promotion of Korean culture around the globe. For his collaboration with Jungkook on the cover of “We Don’t Talk Anymore”, Jimin sang the parts of Selena Gomez. Jimin received praises for the songs from Teen Vogue,¬† Canadian outlet Flare, and Elite Daily. Jimin won the monthly Peeper X Billboard Award for “Top K-Pop Artist Individual” in 2018. Peeper X Billboard is a collaboration between the social media app Peeper and Billboard Korea. They announce monthly winners depending on the public’s votes. The prize was a donation to the charity UNICEF under Jimin’s name. Additionally, he received a lot of appreciation from the Cultural Conservation Society for performing buchaechum, a traditional Korean fan dance performed by him during the 2018 Melon Music Awards to spread the dance outside of Korea.
