Gone with the Wind is a 1939 American epic historical romance movie that is adapted from the 1936 novel by the same name written by Margaret Mitchell. Victor Fleming was the director of the movie, while the producer was David O. Selznick. The cast of the film includes Thomas Mitchell, Barbara O’Neil, Evelyn Keyes, George Reeves, Ann Rutherford, Oscar Polk, Victor Jory, Everett Brown, Howard Hickman, Alicia Rhett, Leslie Howard, Rand Brooks, Clark Gable, Laura Hope Crews, Fred Crane, and Butterfly McQueen. The movie was released on 15 December 1939, with an approximate running time of 221 minutes. The Production Companies of the movie include Selznick International Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.

The movie became immensely popular just after its release. Gone with the became the highest earning movie of that time and is still considered to be the highest meaning film. But the movie also got some criticism because of glorifying slavery and the myth of the confederacy in the movie. The film has been regarded as the greatest film of all time, and in 1989, it became one of the twenty-five inaugural films selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry. Several Hollywood executives and studios declined to create a film based on it, which includes Louis B. Mayer and Irving Thalberg at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Pandro Berman at RKO Pictures, and David O. Selznick, Jack L. Warner of Warner Bros. After the biggest star was not interested in the movie, Selznick changes his mind after his story editor and business partner Kay Brown and John Hay respectively pushed him into buying the rights of the film.

Plot Details:

The movie revolves around the American Civil War, Scarlett O’Hara, who lives in Tara is deeply attracted to Ashley Wilkes, and she learns that he is soon to be married to his cousin, Melanie Hamilton. Scarlett decides to make an advance on Ashley but caught the attention of another gentleman at the party, Rhett Butler. But the party got disrupted by the news of President Lincoln’s call for volunteers to fight the South, and the Southern men rush to enlist in defense of the South. In order to jealous of Ashely, Scarlett marries Melanie’s younger brother Charles before he leaves to fight.
