Is Kdrama “Mr. Queen” Getting A Season 2?

Hit Korean drama Mr. Queen has just ended, and the fans wonder if there will be a season 2. There is no doubt that Mr. Queen has become one of the best shows to air in Korea. Moreover, its interesting plot seems to attract viewers from across the world. The fans really want to witness more episodes of Mr. Queen. But is Mr. Queen season 2 happening? Is it a possibility? Mr. Queen is a South Korean drama television series. The show made its debut on December 12, 2020. And it concluded on Valentine’s day 2021. With a total of 20 episodes, Mr. Queen managed to win uncountable hearts in a small amount of time. The show is directed by Yeon Seong Sik (Hwarang, The King’s face). And the script is penned down by Park Kye Ok (Doctor Prisoner) and Choi A-II.

Mr. Queen (Lit. Queen Cheorin) is originally based on the Chinese drama, Go Princess Go. It tells the story of a modern aged man whose soul gets trapped into a queen’s body from the Joseon Era. Undoubtedly, it has one of the funniest themes. Moreover, some elements from the show were incredibly hilarious. However, it also gives rise to some controversies. But, despite everything, Mr. Queen managed to be the biggest openers of 2020.

Mr. Queen Season 2- Is It Happening?

Unfortunately, there is no official news of Mr. Queen season 2. Also, tvN Network, Crave Works, Studio Dragon, or YG STUDIOPLEX haven’t updated the fans with any news of its renewal. Furthermore, it is very unclear if the series will return or not at the moment. Although it’s unlikely for K-dramas to return with a season 2, these days, almost all of them are getting a second season. So, we can expect Mr. Queen season 2 as well. Considering the hype and popularity, Mr. Queen definitely deserves a season 2.

Mr. Queen also owns an impressive report card. It has  8.8/10 on IMDB, 8.9/10 on MyDramaList, and 93% on AsianWiki. This clearly proves why it needs another season. On the other hand, fans on social media appeal to the network and creators too for a second season. Posts on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook are trending too.

As much as we want another season, there is actually a problem on the way of it. The show is adapted from Chinese drama, and the original show does not have any further story. This means that Mr. Queen does not have any source material to get ideas from. Unfortunately, this can shatter all our dreams. But, let’s not lose hope and wait for the official announcement.

As for the release date, it will be out once the show gets ordered for season 2. Until then, we will keep you updated.

Mr. Queen Storyline and Cast

The show is a comedy-drama that follows modern age chef Jang Bong Hwanwho works at the Blue House. He owns a free spirit, but one day he finds himself trapped in the body of Queen Cheorin in the Joseon Period. Adventures happen as the modern chef learns to live inside a woman’s body. Also, the love story and political fights in the show interest the viewers too.

The show stars Shin Hye-Sun (Angel’s Last Mission: Love, My Golden Life) as Queen Cheorin and Kim Jung-Hyeon (School 2017) as King Cheoljong. Joining the leads are Bae Jong Ok as Queen Sunwon, Kim Tae Woo as Kim Jwa Geun, Yoo Min Kyu as Prince Yeongpyeong, Na In Woo as Kim Byeong In, and Yoo Young Jae as Kim Hwan.
