It was decided that the film will have a world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 16, 2020. But due to the Global Coronavirus Pandemic, the Film Festival was postponed. Later, Lionsgate, in December 2020, acquired U.S distribution rights to the film, and now it is set to release on February 19, 2021. Watch the trailer, which is just awesome, though I can say the same for the movie’s poster.
Plot: Silk Road is based on a True Story
We live in a world where we have access to the internet. You can do almost everything online, like shop for clothes and food, can communicate with loved ones and a total stranger, or even hack or do some illegal activities (if you choose that wrong path). One of the first websites that really explore how much can be done on the internet and how you can do some illegal online. Silk Road is a website runs from 2011-2014 allow savvy users to buy drugs and other illegal goods and service via the dark web with the exchange of new cryptocurrency bitcoin. The upcoming Lionsgate movie ‘Silk Road’ is inspired by the story of a trailblazing website’s rise and fall from the perceptive of the site’s founder and the DEA agent tracking him down.
Recently there is a buzz about this upcoming movie. The trailer of the movie was launched on YouTube just a week ago. The story is going to be based upon a book that depicts an incredible crime thriller that was based on the Silk Road and its criminal events that became the history of all time in the criminal world. There is a book by the American name kingpin written by Nick Bilton and is based upon the life of Ross Ulbricht, who became a big name and was also the founder of the silk road. The movie’s main content is about the events that took place and caught up with an officer who was to be the investigator and later himself ended up being a criminal. Interesting right? Somewhat the same is going to happen with the movie silk road.
Robinson accepted that whether that’s right or wrong, to start the idea at the beginning and end up where he ended, clearly it goes out of control quickly.
