People are lately showing their concerns about why Bryce Harper left Washington Nationals. He played for this team since 2012 and exited in 2018, all of a sudden. Soon, the baseball player joined the Philadelphia Phillies and still doing wonders. What was the reason behind his switch?

Born on 16 October 1992, Bryce Harper is now 30 years old. This versatile MLB player hails from Las Vegas, Nevada. When it comes to his position, he serves as the right fielder. Little did you know, one of Bryce’s biggest accomplishments has been his winning of All-Star seven times. Also, he made it to the NL MVP (×2), Silver Slugger Awards (×2), NL Hank Aaron Award (×2), and many more. He is also set to join the 2023 World Baseball Classic.

Bryce Harper was disappointed about something, and he took it personally. That certainly turned out to be the reason behind switching from Washington Nationals to Philadelphia Phillies. It seemed like he wanted to stay in Washington and play for some more seasons but couldn’t continue doing the same. What went wrong?

Reason Behind Bryce Harper Leaving Washington Nationals Revealed

The major reason behind Bryce Harper’s departure from the Washington Nationals was that he was very much disappointed with the lowball offer from the team. Moreover, he was hurt, as he opened up later in 2019 during an interview. In other words, it was the free agency process that he didn’t like.

After having a meeting with Washington Nationals owner Mark Lerner, he thought that he would be staying in the team. But, things didn’t turn out the same. To be more precise about his Washington Nationals contract, it was worth $300 million for 10 years, out of which $100 million was included as the deferral amount.

This needed to be paid for over the later years. Well, this ultimately reduced the value of the contract. Why? Because it didn’t include inflation. Briefly, it was quite below the apparent heights. However, the Philadelphia Phillies offer didn’t contain anything such. So, he found the latter better.

Little did you know, Bryce Harper also got an offer from the Houston Astros, but the money was very “stupid”. But his saying turned out to be from “I’m going to be a National” to ” We’re going to Philly.” It seemed like he kind of turned the page onto the new year.

After his departure, the Washington Nationals continued with its matches without him, of course. On the other hand, Bryce enjoyed a productive first season at the Philadelphia Phillies. Talking more about it, he signed a 13 ye13-year with this team worth $330. That was more than what he was offered by Washington Nationals and also with no deferral amount for sure.

Well, Washington Nationals made the offer so that a skeptical observer could tell others that Bryce was offered in real. However, it turned out as if it didn’t make any. Some people were blind and started spreading rumors which stated that Bryce hated the team. To him, their love and support didn’t mean anything, as reported by some of the Nats. But things were not like that in real.

Bryce Harper was willing to stay with Washington Nationals but he was not satisfied with the offer. Was it just the monetary value? Well, to him, it was not what his talent was worth. He believed to deserve more.

It’s quite common for fans to resent the players who leave their favorite team. Yes, they do, no matter how legitimate their reasons are. Still, we should respect their decision, even if we are against it. With money comes internal and emotional satisfaction as well while delivering the best to the team. Hoping Bryce Harper is very happy being associated with the Philadelphia Phillies while doing his best. Wishing Bryce nothing but the best for the upcoming days of his career.
