Published Categorized as Entertainment No Comments on Urban Cowboy Cast: Then And Now

Seeing cowboys on a large screen and learning what cowboys actually are and what they do and what their life is like is one of the most memorable aspects of the movie Urban Cowboy. Urban Cowboy is a movie about a cowboy named Bud who falls for a woman named Sissy and they fall in love, but they are also faced with many difficulties in their relationship by Sissy’s ex-husband and Bud’s uncle.

Love, loyalty, and finding oneself are some of the primary themes of the film. In addition, it explores the lifestyle of the contemporary cowboy and the honky-tonk community. Both audiences and critics loved the film, helping to cement John Travolta’s status as a leading Hollywood man. Debra Winger and Scott Glenn are just two of the many performers whose careers were jumpstarted by this film.

But what are these celebrities doing at this moment? What are the actors who starred in the acclaimed film Urban Cowboy doing these days? You will be astounded to learn about some of them; for more information about them, please read the article

1. John Travolta

After giving a stunning performance as Bud Davis in Urban Cowboy, John Travolta went on to star in a string of movies that were both well-received by critics and commercially successful, including: Pulp Fiction (1994),  Broken Arrow (1996), Face/Off (1997), A Civil Action (1998), Primary Colors (1998) and Hairspray (2007). Travolta is also known for providing the main character’s voice in the Disney animated film Bolt.

Since the year 2010, Travolta has starred in films that are classified as action pictures or thrillers. In 2016, he made his return to television in the inaugural season of the anthology series American Crime Story. The season was titled The People v. O. J. Simpson, and he portrayed the character of attorney Robert Shapiro. Fans were both startled and pleased to see him in this role.

2. Debra Winger

After her role in Urban Cowboy, Debra Winger, also known as Sissy, appeared in a number of films, such as Legal Eagles (1986), Black Widow (1987), Betrayed (1988), and The Sheltering Sky (1990), and she went on to win many awards for her work. However, she eventually decided to take a break from acting after filming Forget Paris in 1995, and she was absent from the screen for six years before making her comeback in 2001 with Big Bad Love. Additionally, Winger made his debut in the role of producer with this movie.

Following that, Winger appeared in the multi-camera comedy series The Ranch, which aired on Netflix from 2016 through 2020.

3. Scott Glenn

Scott Glenn, who played Wes Hightower, is up next. Hightower was one of my favorite characters in the film because he was rough and tough on the outside but sensitive on the inside, and Scott Glenn beautifully portrayed that duality. After playing Hightower, Glenn went on to star in a wide variety of films and television shows, including The Keep, Wild Geese II, Silverado (1985), and many more.

In the recent time, Glenn made Marvel, and Urban Cowboy fans pleased when he reprised his role as Stick in the second season of Netflix’s Daredevil and again in the third season of The Defenders.

4. Madolyn Smith

We all fell in love with Sissy, and Madolyn Smith’s performance as Sissy has been praised by critics. After her brilliant debut in Urban Cowboy, Madolyn appeared in a few more films, including All of Me (1984) and 2010 (1984), and a few television series, including Class of ’96, before retiring from acting.

We last heard from her in 2010, when she lent her voice to architect Louis Sullivan (the “father of skyscrapers”) in the documentary film Louis Sullivan: the Struggle for American Architecture.

5. Barry Corbin

Two-time Primetime Emmy Award winner Barry Corbin played the character of Uncle Bob in such a wonderful way that it brought back memories of our own uncle, who is the most influential person in our lives.

After his work on Urban Cowboy, Barry Corbin went on to star in a number of films and television shows, including Dallas, One Tree Hill, The Closer, and others. His film credits include WarGames (1983) and No Country for Old Men (2007), among others. The last time we saw Barry Cobin on television was in the year 2020 when he appeared in an episode of Better Call Saul as a recurring guest star playing the part of Everett Acker.
