Space Sweepers is an upcoming South Korean sci-fi movie. It is helmed by Jo Sung-Hee, who is known for directing A Werewolf Boy, Phantom Detective, End of Animal, and others. Song Joong Ki also appeared in A Werewolf Boy, which means this is the second time Sung-Hee and the actor work together.

Recently Netflix has leased two new production studios in Soth Korea. It is done to feed subscribers with more South Korean content. According to sources, viewers from around the world want more films and Tv shows on Netflix.

Earlier, Space Sweepers was making its debut in the Summer of 2020. However, due to the outbreak of COVID-19 across the globe, it was moved to October 1, 2020 (Korean Thanksgiving Day). As we all know, it did not happen, and now we have a new release date.

The upcoming film will air on February 5, 2021, only on Netflix. And this time, it is final. Space Sweepers will have a grand opening simultaneously in 190 countries through Netflix.

The filming began in July 2019, and it concluded in November 2019. It was the exact time when the pandemic started, and being one of the closest countries to China, South Korea decided not to release it in theatres. After a year, it has found its home on Netflix, and we are happy as it will be easily available to people living outside of South Korea.

Space Sweepers Cast And Storyline

We all have high expectations from Space Sweepers. And why not? It is considered South Korea’s first big-budget movie set in space. It is set in the year 2092, and it follows the story of a crew of a space junk collectorship, The Victory. The crew discovers a robot named Dorothy. And they soon learn that it can mass destruction, which leads them to entangle in a risky business deal.

The movie is going to be a thriller, and it also involves sci-fi. Furthermore, it’s from South Korea. It is already our favorite. But, we would still like to witness it, and we want you to join as well. So, make sure to mark the date on your calendars.

The movie stars Song Joong Ki (Descendents of the Sun, The Werewolf) as Tae Ho. He is the pilot of the spaceship, Victory, and will do anything to make money, but he always broke. Joining him is Kim Tae Ri (The Handmaiden, Mr. Sunshine), who will play the ship captain. Jin Seon Kyu (Extreme Job, Money) and Yu Hae Jin (Intimate Strangers, Tazza: The Hidden Card) will join the cast as crew members, Tiger Park, and the robot as well.
