The series is all about a reality TV program where we witness crab fishermen on their vessels sailing out for the hunt. These workers are located at the Bering Sea and hunt during the Alaskan king crab season as well as the snow crab season. The job is deemed to be one of the most dangerous things and hence the title of the series. The show has been commissioned by the Discovery Channel for their network.

Throughout the show, we see these men set out on sail. We see their lives being documented on the screen as they fish for hundreds of pounds of crabs while also dealing with the harsh weather. Elsewhere, there is a harsh scene when the entire crew is facing injury. It was because a bait pallet broke loose on the vessel. Captain Rick is now in charge of overseeing the whole thing and making sure that everything is fine. By the end of the episode, we see that Wild Bill had a Plan A for their work, but it has fallen through. Thus, Maria takes the lead on Summer Bay and decides to execute Plan P.
