Jujutsu Kaisen has been evolving into one of the best recent anime out there. It has made a name for itself because of its amazing characters. Only a little over 10 episodes have been released, and yet the characters have become iconic.
MAPPA produces the anime, and Crunchyroll is given the role of streaming it everywhere outside Asia. Being powered by MAPPA, the animations are on another level. Only a few anime makes a name for themselves right from the start. Usually, only after 2 or 3 seasons do people start realizing how great a show actually is.
But with Jujutsu Kaisen, it became a smash hit right from the start. Everywhere you looked, from Instagram to Twitter, the show was trending. From memes to fan pages to even TikTok, the show has been a movement.
Episode 17 – Release Date
So episode 17 of this amazing series hits us on the 5th of February, 2021. That’s not a long wait; episodes are being released every single week.
We follow the life of Yuji Itadori, your run of mill High School student who lives with his grandfather. He is very much fit and has talents in athletics and sports, but due to some reason, he tries his best to avoid being part of any of it.
So to avoid being roped into any athletic club or any other sports club, our hero turns his attention towards the Occult Research club. He can take his life easily, relax with the other students and leave school at a very comfortable time.
His grandfather is on his deathbed right now, so our main character goes straight to the hospital right after school. So during his grandfather’s final moments, he imposes upon Yuji some compelling words.
His grandfather tells him to “always help people” and to “always surrounded by people”—understanding the meaning of everything he makes his way back.
Megumi Fushigiro, a sorcerer, crosses paths with Yuji; the sorcerer tells him that e had been in contact with a very dangerous talisman. This talisman contains a very high-grade curse that could put everyone’s life in jeopardy, and the talisman is actually a finger.
So the other members of the occult club mess with the talisman and end up removing its seal. This causes a huge amount of curses to be released on school grounds. The curses bring in hazardous and scary creatures who are attracted to negative emotions. They can also improve their magical capabilities by leeching off sorcerers and such charms or talismans.
So with everyone in danger, Yujitakes it upon himself to save the school and all his friends. The only way he sees for this to happen is by swallowing the cursed finger, which he does.
By swallowing the cursed finger, Yuri becomes the host for Sukuna, a very dangerous and powerful curse. The creature’s evil powers are on another level, so the other sorcerers are pushed to do an exorcism on him right then and there. But to their surprise, even after serving as a host to Sukuna, Yuji still has control over his body.
That is when Satoru Gojo proposes a plan to take Yuji to Tokyo Metropolitan Magical Technical School. They would postpone the exorcism and find all other fingers attached to the Sukuna curse so that they can finish it off completely once and for all. Gojo is actually Megumi’s teacher.
The anime-like, we said, has some very exceptional characters. Don’t get mistaken by the very dark storyline, just like how we see in The Seven Deadly Sins; Jujutsu Kaisen is host to a plethora of anime-type comedy. Such sudden jokes, expressions, and hilarious scenes cause for one great experience.
So episode 17 releases this coming February 5th, everyone is pumped. Stay tuned for more news on everything anime. Happy Watching!
