History Channel is finally getting its old groove back, as the platform is now going to start airing a new limited documentary series revolving around the life of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt called “FDR“. The epic miniseries will provide a cinematic representation of the Great Depression era and World War II, including other dramatic events that happened when FDR became the 32nd President of the United States.

The show premiered on History on 29th May 2023. It’s set to be executively produced by Doris Kearns Goodwin, one of the best-selling authors who has also been awarded a Pulitzer Prize. Along with Doris, Bradley Cooper will also be the producer behind the series. His production company, Lea Pictures, has been working in association with RadicalMedia and GroupM Motion to bring the show to life.

With the platform’s previous documentary-like miniseries becoming a hit with the audience, it looks like History will be trying to cover all of the presidents the United States has had. Up until now, History Channel has released four other shows, titled Washington (2020), Grant, (2020), Theodore Roosevelt (2022), and Abraham Lincoln (2022).

The first one was able to cover the life of George Washington in an intriguing way, while Grant revolved around the life of the 18th president, Ulysses S. Grant. As seen in previous shows, FDR will have only 3 episodes.

FDR: Cast Of The Show

Cast members of the History series will be Christian McKay as Franklin Roosevelt, Rufus Jones in the role of Theodore Roosevelt, Alice Bounsall as Eleanor Roosevelt, and Adrian Galley will be playing the role of Winston Churchill. Franklin Roosevelt was Theodore Roosevelt’s 5th cousin, with Franklin’s wife also being a closer relative of the 26th President.
