Plot Analysis

The private Lives series start with speeches that talk about privacy. It talks about how the use of the internet has put everything on the verge. People expose their complete life over the internet and it becomes private and easy to access. With the introduction going we can see Joo Eun in her beautiful white wedding dress. At that point, she was looking worried. She goes to the flashback in 2009 when her parents and she use to con people. They are professional con artists and swindle people for money. They call their conning business a “shooting documentary”. Being a con artist was in the blood so she also inherits it.

She is a younger age doesn’t want to end up like a con artist but growing up doesn’t make any difference in her life. It can be seen she is living a cordial life where she is going on a meal with Han Son and talks about the revenge from 9 years ago. She started discussing the revenge over the meal. She again goes to the past where she was in landing in for college admission. At that time she introduces Han Son to her mother saying he will be an excellent documentary artist. Her father is hired by a woman to name Bok Ki to help them in collecting money in the name of religion.

Bok Ki and her partner Jae Wook then steal the funds which were collected by Joo Eun’s father. They blame it all on Pastor Cha (Joo Eun’s father) and leave the country. They became worse when Joo Eun’s father’s savings into this church has been stealing as well and he has been conned. He has no money left and after that, he is jailed. Seeing her father helpless she feels bad as she cannot do anything.

Her mother leaves her too. The plot goes at the same pace. Eun Joo meets the detective about the scam that has to happen and came to know that detective is also a scam by the. Even after trying to plead in court, she was sent to jail for 18 months. The story takes an upper hand after her release. Jae Wook was forced by the financial manager to commit suicide. She meets up with the sook who is retired and running a barbeque restaurant with other friends.

Plot Continuation

She is working at the office and meets Jung Hwan after this they both started dating each other. Jeon Hwan makes Eun Joo meet his parents as she says that she is an orphan. She rechecked about Hwan and find out she is working with a verified profile.  Eun Joo lives a double life around Hwan as she is having feelings and is confused with the conning profession. Eun Joo gets a marriage proposal by Hawn and she accepts the proposal.

She sets some people to be her friend and family while the marriage takes place. However, the marriage never took a place as Hwan never show up. At that point, she realizes that he is a con artist and she got scammed. Eun Joo was asked to identify the body that is burned and is beyond recognition. The DNA takes another shot but seeing the reaction of Eun Joo police find it strange. It makes him realize how emotionless she is. Eun’s mother being mean asked them to pay the money in two months.

She asks Han Son to find Jeon Hwan for her. Overall the plots revolve around getting con and being a con as well. The drama ends on the flits to the spy detective agency three years later. Jeong-hwan is released from prison and Joo-Eun meets him. Kim Jun-beom comes with Joo Eun. Bok-Gi visits Kim Sang-man in prison. The final scene ends on Cha Joo-Eun getting her wedding day with Lee Jeong-hwan. It closes when her friend came to the bridal room walking toward her. The look on her friend’s face surely will bring some bad news but the drama closes on that note.

Final Verdict – Private Lives

Overall the series Private Life is something refreshing to watch from the typical romantic K drama. The ratings aren’t that great but the drama is. It has some thrillers add to it which may not be everyone’s cup of tea. I find things a bit confusing at some points. The only drawback that is to be questioned is the adding of more characters. Many characters end up adding sand which leads to major confusion. The character development took a backseat as the character introduction took a gear up.

Overall if you are someone who is into such a thriller romance comedy you can surely give it a try as this won’t disappoint you. Yes, you may lose some track here and there but in the end, everything gets connects and easy to understand. The drama ends on a very confusing and doubtful note that the leads got marry or not or what was the news her friend came with.

You can totally expect a season as it ends on such an unclear note overall the drama is good and nice for a one-time watch.
