COVID 19 has caused many of the upcoming anime episodes and seasons to get delayed. OreGairu, also known as “My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU,” Season 3 Episode 1 that was titled “Eventually, the season change and the snow melts,” was scheduled to air on April 9, 2020. However, the third season has been delayed, and the older second season will air in the time slot.
The official twitter page of Oregairu issued the following statement two days before the release.
— やはり俺の青春ラブコメはまちがっている。 (@anime_oregairu) April 7, 2020
We are sad to announce that “My Youth Romantic Comedy SNAFU Climax”, which was scheduled to be broadcast from this spring was postponed due to the spread of the new coronavirus. Thank you for your understanding.
There was no mention of any further date for release as the situation in Japan is as bad as anywhere in the world. This season could be delayed for up to 6 months, given the trend with other seasons.
OreGairu Season 3 New Release Date
SNAFU / OreGairu Season 3 will be released in Fall 2020; this is if it is not delayed any further. We will update you once we have an official confirmation.
Oregairu (abbreviation for “My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong, As I Expected” in Japanese) is a light novel written by Wataru Watari. It was illustrated into three mangas by Ponkan8. The anime made the debut in 2013 with the first season followed by another season in 2015.
The “Feel” studio announced last year that they will be making season three with the director “Kei Oikawa” from the second season returning. This third and final season was announced by “Shogakukan” on March 18, 2019. This season was going to continue the storyline after the two years in the high school had been spent.
The story is about Hachiman Hikigaya, who is an unresponsive high school student with narcissistic and semi-rebellious tendencies. This personality flaw is due to his socially deprived lifestyle. He doesn’t believe in joyful life and considers it a waste of time. Hachiman is sent to the school’s service club by his teacher. She advises him to join the club to change his social outcast behavior. This club promises the students to help them achieve their goals. Hachiman has a particular interest in two girls, Yukino Yukinoshita and Yui Yuigahama, who become good friends with Hachiman.
Yukino was the only member of the service club until Hachiman joined. Yui was their first customer. As the story unfolds, Hachiman comes to know that the three of them are connected by a car accident. Hachiman saved Yui’s cat from a car and got hit just before he enrolled for the highschool. He was hospitalized for three months. The Car that hit Hachiman had belonged to the family of Yukino. Hachiman did not take this well, and it took him some time to get back with Yukino. After joining the club, he meets people who have varying personalities that influence Hachiman in a positive way.
