Netflix streaming giant is expanding its reach in Korea with the creation of more original series for premiering. Vincenzo and Sisyphus are the latest ones that came recently and are on the air. Now, the streaming giant is all the more seeking to explore the Zombie genre in Korea with the green signal of All of Us Are Dead. They had already seen through the successful release of Kingdom, another Netflix original South Korean Zombie series. There is quite a lot of other Zombie genre shows or films in the last decade. The Zombie genre is not new to Korea, as they had given major hits and crossover smash previously. Train to Busan is one such example.

South Korea has also another famous pop culture, which is adapting and making dramas from webtoon. All of Us Are Dead will be another such Korean series that will get adapted from webtoon, Now At Our School. The webtoon is already famous in Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, and Indonesia. The series is already in the midst of production and is expected to arrive this year. It will not only be a zombie but also teen drama which makes the same much interesting and anticipating for its arrival. Now, let’s get to know all about what we have gathered from the release date to all about the upcoming series.

All Of Us Are Dead: Release Date and Production

All of Us Are Dead is an upcoming coming of age Zombie apocalypse series that will get featured on Netflix. The announcement for the series took place via a press conference by Netflix on 12th April 2020. However, the series does not have any confirmed official release date as it is still in the midst of production. There is also very little information or spoilers given regarding its release or production. Nevertheless, it is expected that the series will arrive on Netflix in the first half of 2021 for premiering. The confirmation for the official cast members of the series also took place after its announcement.

As it is already mentioned earlier, the drama is based on a popular webtoon, Joo Dong-Geun’s Now at Our School. The webtoon ran from 2009 to 2011. Chung Sung-il is the screenwriter of the drama, with Lee Jae-kyoo and Kim Nam-Su serving as its director. Film Monster and JTBC Studios are co-producing the drama. The production for the series already took place in April of last year. However, the same also got halted after cast members and staff tested positive for COVID-19. The last known information on production was on November 27, 2020, wherein the same was suspended. The production was to resume again two weeks later from November 27, 2020.

Cast and Plotline

The cast lineup for the upcoming drama is quite promising with many rookies and supporting actors from other dramas serving as the leading role in the new drama. The main cast for the drama is Yoon Chan-young, Yoo in-soo, Park Ji-hoo, Park Solomon, and Cho Yi-Hyun. They will portray the roles of Chung-san, Yoo Gwi-Nam, On-Jo, Lee Soo-Hyuk, and Nam-Ra, respectively. Bae Hae-sun, Jo Dal-hwan, Ahn Seung-gyun, Yoon Byung-hee, On Hee-Joon, Kim Byung-Chul, Lee Eun-saem, and Shin Jae-hwi will portray the roles of supporting characters. Their roles will be Park Eul-Won, Chang-Hoon, Lee Byung-Chan, Jo Dal-Ho, etc.

One can pretty much read the available webtoon for knowing how the storyline will unfold in the drama. The webtoon follows the zombie contagion in a high school with a group of students trapped inside the school. The drama will clearly follow the life and death situation for them, with the formulation of escape plans and successful execution. People outside the school will also go to great lengths for saving them as the contagion gradually spread. However, it is unclear as to whether Netflix will exactly follow the webtoon or take a deviation from it and create its own original material. There is high anticipation from fans for the upcoming drama with Netflix denoting the series as the Korean zombie genre’s exciting new chapter.
