The alternative title of EGO- ‘Men cannot be Trusted’ is the basis of the story for this crime thriller where the male lead is an able liar and has successfully pulled off deceptions in the past. But one failure lands him in big trouble from where his ruin starts. Erhan and Elif are a couple who are passionately in love and have decided to go forward with the big step- Get married. As they are happy about starting a new chapter of their lives together, their hopes and dreams come crashing down when the consequences of Erhan’s past deeds come knocking at their door.

Erhan’s deception left a deep mark on Elif and she lost a lot of trust in him. Their plans for their future indefinitely put on hold, the couple now have to struggle to survive the current phase. A huge debt being laid on their shoulders upturns their routine, daily lives as they bear with the negative impacts and psychological harm from Erhan’s fraudulent actions.

It is at a time like this when Erhan’s boss, Sibel approaches the couple with an offer to end their nightmarish reality, one they have difficulty rejecting. A choice that can even more greatly change what they have known or desired.

Sibel who is worried about her relationship with Erhan flies off to Germany with Timur. The tension between Erhan and Sibel becomes increasingly dense as both feel heated about their affections for each other and feel it is better to maintain distance.

Erhan who is unaware of Elif’s deception, accepts letting go of Sibel with much difficulty even if he has to suppress his feelings for her. He is not agreeable with Sibel’s choices but has no say in the matter. Elif, who is using Tuncay as her cover is soon found out by Erhan who learns of her lies. Their relationship fails irreparably, meanwhile Sibel puts her plans on hold and does not leave for Germany. She, instead, decides to stay by Erhan’s side to support him.
