World Trigger Season 3 Release Date, Trailer, and All You Need To Know
The third season of World Trigger was announced last year by Toei Animation. There has been little update on it since then except some teaser posters for the upcoming anime. The release date was not set. The anime was going to air on TV Asahi this year in Japan. However, the initial release date may move up due to the ongoing pandemic like many more upcoming seasons.
It was also announced that Mario Hatano would be the director of the brand new season. Hatano was responsible for directing the Future Trunks Saga of Dragon Ball Super previously.

Mikado City, with a population of 280,000, was peaceful before aggressors from another dimension, entered the town one day. The town is overrun near an exo-dimensional gate. This gate to the otherworld is opened by attackers known as the “near neighbors.” The weapons of the earth are ineffective on the attackers who are causing havoc in the city. Panic spreads, and there is little hope for the city.
The massacre is stopped by the appearance of a mysterious group that repels the attackers out of the town. This group calls themselves Border (National Defense Agency), who exists to protect the world from this type of attack by researching the technology of the people of the near world. This group sets up a base in the city and build a top-quality defense system against the next attack of the nearby people. Four years pass after the attack, and the gate is still open. Still, the city keeps fighting.
Osamu Mikumo is a high school student who also belonged to the Border. There is a transfer student in his Osamu’s class who calls himself “Kuga Yuma.” Mikumo finds out that Yuma has arrived from beyond the gate, the place called “nearby” But he had a weapon called “Trigger” that only border members can carry. A Trigger is a battle-body made of internal energy called Trion, which makes the users more resistant and powerful against the nearby people. Osamu and Yuma get into fights with nearby people and get on their journey to save their town.
The first two seasons premiered in the Fall of 2014 and ran from Oct 5, 2014, to Apr 3, 2016. The anime was planned to be 50 episodes back then, but it was extended to two seasons of 73 episodes. This new series was not present in the World Trigger Manga was called the “Fugitive Arc,” which ran in the Episodes 49 to 73. The anime was also dubbed later in 2017.
World Trigger Season 3 will be released in Japan in 2020. Once we have confirmed the exact release date, we will update this post.
This new anime season will continue the original story from episode 48 following the manga. That is why it was called season 2 on some media. The “Fugitive Arc” was about the training of Osamu to get stronger as he finds out about his strengths. Season three will be about the invasion from Galopoula that the border forces were preparing for at the end of the season 2.
