The controversial and hard-hitting teen drama 13 Reasons Why is returning with a third season. The announcement was made in June this year. Over the course of its two seasons, the show has carved a niche for itself. It has a very strong fanbase even though there are some people who feel the show romanticises teenage suicide.
Gearing up for the third season, showrunner Brian Yorkey said in an interview “I always think there’s more story to tell, but I think that depends on viewers and everyone’s reaction to it and whether it’s important to keep telling the story. If there is a future for the show, to me, it’s about these characters, and not necessarily a new set of reasons or a new set of tapes. Someone else might do that, but that’s not my job to do that.”
A licensing agreement has also been signed between Paramount Pictures and Analy High School for filming the third season.
The entire main cast is expected to return in the third season which includes Dylan Minnette, Dylan Minnette, Brandon Flynn, Justin Prentice, and Alisha Boe. Katherine Langford is also said to return as Hanah Baker whose suicide and its 13 reasons set in motion a series of events that turned everyone’s lives upside down and brought the issue of teenage suicides in the limelight.
Dylan Minnette, who portrays Clay Jenson said in an interview that “There’s a whole life that Hannah had, and there’s more we can learn about her. Overall, learning more about her is more important to the entire narrative”, insinuating that the third season will explore the life and struggles of Hanah Baker further.
Season 1 came in March 2017 while season 2 came out in May 2018. Season 3 is not expected to release before May 2019 though there has been no official announcement. The trailer for season 2 was released a month before the season premiered. So don’t expect the trailer to come out anytime soon.
According to the rumors, 13 Reasons Why Season 3 will be coming out in July 2019, but don’t take this as an official confirmation, we will keep you posted as soon as we get our hands on new details.
