’13 Reasons Why’ Season 3 – Update
At the end of 13 Reasons Why Season 2, we saw the court rule against Hannah’s parents. But what was more shocking was how Tyler (Devin Druid) was s_xually assaulted at Montgomery High School which later compelled him to walk into the school dance with an automatic rifle in an attempt to mass shoot. The scene thankfully did not take place, and Tyler was rescued by his friends; this caused furor across America with various groups urging Netflix to cancel the show.
The Parents Television Council called for the series to be axed calling it, “a ticking time bomb to teens and children.
The watchdog group said, “We’re issuing a warning about Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why Season 2 and urging the company to pull the series entirely because of the potentially harmful content.”
The showrunner Brian Yorkey decided to go ahead with Season 3 saying, “Unfortunately, there’s a great deal of literature about a great number of troubled young men who resorted to or almost resorted to violence to act through their feelings. So we were able to study a great deal of the history there, and we tried to be authentic and honest and also accurate in our portrayal of the character. As with all things with the show, we hoped that we could honestly represent the experience; that our viewers might, through the experience, learn more and start more conversations about those issues in their own world.”
