Cobra Kai Season 4: Everything You Need To Know

Cobra Kai Season 3

Cobra Kai is one series that has seemed to have taken the world by storm in recent times. This could be because it has now found a home in the streaming platform Netflix. Being a YouTube original show initially, the series was known only amongst a bunch of niche audiences. But now that it has been taken over by a mainstream OTT platform, we can say that it is accessible to a whole new range of audiences. The series just released its third season, and Cobra Kai Season 4 is a definite possibility for the future.

The convenience is not the only reason that contributes to its popularity. The show is genuinely great and fun to watch. It is based on a plot that many of us grew up with, and we are more than happy to see it come back to life on screen. It features stars who we looked up to as children and is a spin-off of a franchise that is popular all over the world.

Cobra Kai - Season 2

Cobra Kai – Season 2

This is especially a good time to bring this series to your attention. If you are wondering why we say this, then you haven’t been catching up on the news relating to entertainment lately. Cobra Kai Season 3 came out on the 1st of January this year, and let’s just say that it exceeded all expectations. It was, in true Cobra Kai fashion, intense, hilarious, and engaging. That being said, it also established several plot points that have pique the interest of the audience. This has given us even more reason to look forward to the next big thing in this franchise – Cobra Kai Season 4.

Cobra Kai: what is it, and who is involved?

If you aren’t aware of what this series is, we are here to enlighten you! This is a spin-off series based on the 1984 classic, The Karate Kid. Yes, that’s right; it is based on a movie that went on to inspire a whole generation of people to take up karate. The show is set thirty-four years after the events that occurred in the All Valley Karate Tournament. If you didn’t know what happened, it was this: Danny LaRusso Beat Johnny Lawrence in the All Valley Tournament by landing a kick that will go on to be talked about for years on end.

This show sets a redemption arc of sorts for the character Johnny. The Karate Kid fandom knows that Johnny has a fan following of his own. It might be shocking to know that the bad kid is loved by so many people, but hey, this is a character that has so much potential, and from the looks of it – the makers saw it too! The first season dropped on YouTube in 2018, and it was like an instant rekindling of The Karate Kid fandom. Word spread like wildfire, and before we knew it, everybody was talking about the show. Well, everybody who knew how great the movie is.

Two seasons later, fans were eager to know if there was a future for the series. These fans were overjoyed that Netflix had taken the series up and had renewed it for a new season. What’s more? The fans can expect another installment to the series very soon!

Cobra Kai Season 1: where everything kicked off

As already mentioned, the first season of Cobra Kai premiered in the year 2018. This season took on the mammoth task of establishing the series as the rightful sequel to the movie franchise. Here, we have to note that this is a film series that has immense popularity all over the world. This fact right here makes it all the more difficult for the makers to let fans know that this series is indeed worth the hype. With that, we can say that the series has managed to do this with great ease and finesse.

This season sees Lawrence reopen the popular Cobra Kai dojo. After a brief stint at nothing, students who are being bullied at school join him to stand up to their foes. But this does not end there, and we also see the rivalry between him and Daniel LaRusso brew. This is a season that leaves you wondering what is in line for Johnny and every other character in the series.

Cobra Kai Season 2: a success story

With the massive success of the first season came out, the audience immediately started rallying for the next installment. They really did want to know what was up with Johnny and the gang. Well, with season 2 – we saw many of the characters grow into themselves and become who they are today. We saw Kreese try and take over the dojo, and Hawk slowly takes a bad turn. But fans still thought that there was hope for the characters.

All of these expectations were shattered with the big fight in the season finale. The episode saw Tory take on Sam, head to head. But the most shocking part of the episode was when Miguel was pushed to his doom from the second floor of the building by Robby Keene. The character was then seen running away from the scene. All of these developments made the fans even more excited for the next season, and when it did premiere, it was a party!

Cobra Kai Season 3: what is new?

This is the latest season in the series and features the aftermath of the above-mentioned chaos. We wouldn’t want to spoil it for you but let’s just say that you aren’t ready for what you have coming. The most interesting take in this season would be the makers’ take on Kreese. We see a backstory to this character, and it looks like the writers have tried to humanize him a little.

Young Kreese - Cobra Kai

But this is not the only interesting part. Towards the end, we also see Johnny open his own dojo – The Eagel Fang. We see the split of old alliances and the forming of new ones. If you think Hawk coming back to the good side is a shock, wait till we tell you that Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang have now decided to work together to bring down Cobra Kai- headed by Kreese!

Cobra Kai Season 4: what is in store for us?

Now for the most awaited part: Cobra Kai season 4. Is it happening? Well, of course, it is! But before that, we need to see who is involved in this season. The entirety of the original cast will return for the season, but we will probably also see some new additions. If you aren’t aware already, the cast features the following stars:

  • Ralph Macchio
  • William Zabka
  • Courtney Henggeler
  • Xolo Maridueña
  • Tanner Buchanan
  • Mary Mouser
  • Jacob Bertrand
  • Gianni Decenzo
  • Martin Kove

The show is  Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg.

What can the fans expect from the new season?

The next season of Cobra Kai will see if this new alliance will work out or not. When we last left the characters, we saw them conspire together to make Cobra Kai dojo a thing of the past. If all goes according to what we anticipate, there will be a heated battle between the two sides. Taking into consideration that there will also be a new All Valley Tournament showdown between them, we can say that some high-end drama is involved.

When will the season premiere?

As for the premiere date of the new installment, the season is still in the pre-production stage. The pandemic and its developments might slow things down a tad bit, but it is difficult to say by how much. Even if we do consider the storyline to be done with, there are other aspects of making the show that we should factor in. If the scripts are already set, then the only thing left is to start filming the series. The filming will potentially begin early this year and will go on till mid-2021 – if we guess it right. If this is the case, then we will see the new season drop either in late 2021 or early 2022.

Whatever the intended release date is, we can say with conviction that fans are more than ready for the new season. Many questions remain unanswered, and we are hoping that this new installment gives us all the closure we are looking for. If the series drops in 2021, we can end the year on a great note. If it happens to drop in 2022, well, the year will begin with a stellar series. Either way, it looks like it is a win-win situation for a lot of us. While we wait for the new season, let’s crank up the background scores and come up with new theories relating to the show!
