The Lebanese television series Al Thaman, often referred to as “The Price,” debuted its first episode on January 8, 2023. Al Thaman, which tells the tale of a single mother who would stop at nothing to get her ailing child the care he needs, has a great story which is sure to keep you hooked!  

Al Thaman is an adaptation of Binbir Gece or 1001 nights which is an award winning Turkish Series that came out in 2006. Due to its huge success, Binbir Gece was adapted into this arabic show directed by Fikret Kadioglu .

Premiering its first episode on 8th January, 2023, Al Thaman features well known actors from the Arab industry – Razane Jammal, Bassel Khaiat, Nicolas Mouawad, and Sara Abi Kanaan have all contributed to the success of this show.

Our female protagonist, Sarah, is a devout single mother who works to make ends meet for her family consisting of herself and her son.   After a number of career changes, she starts working for Mr. Ibrahim’s architecture firm in hopes of stability.

After suffering through many painful experiences in her life, Sarah is once again confronted with a problem: her son’s cancer is beginning to worsen. Sarah must pay the hospital fees as her son’s health deteriorates in order to ease his pain.

Initially, Sarah had hoped to get a loan from the bank, but her optimistic thinking had been in vain; she had been turned down, leaving her frightened and unsure of what to do.

Zein, the son of her boss, offered her money, after he sough to him as a last resort . In return for the financial aid, Zein had one condition -to spend the night with him. Sarah initially recognized how ludicrous this was and that there was no logical justification for her to accept it.

In the end, however, she succumbs to  to Zein’s demand in exchange for monetary aid for the sake of her son. She would do anything if it meant her son’s leukemia would get better.

Why did Zein make Sarah comply with such a harsh requirement? Can her son’s leukaemia ultimately be treated and how will their relationship develop from here?

Recap: What has happened in Al Thaman till now? 

Mr Ibrahim, Zein’s father, who’s given a proposal to his son is kept hidden by the latter. He doesn’t want to disclose the proposal in front of Sarah, justifying its for the sake of her own good.

Meanwhile, finally, after the long and hard chase of Mo’tasem finally ends as the police captures him and brings him in for questioning. As things start heating up in the series, Firas adds fuel to the flame as he confronts Sarah about her past.

What will happen in the next episode of Al Thaman? Will the fire cool down of just ignite with even bigger flames?
