Anime Review: Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 19

Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 19
Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 19

As Jujutsu Kaisen anime approaches its end, the release of Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 19 took us further in the ongoing invasion by the cursed spirits. The latest episode of the anime saw the interruption of the wacky exorcism race exchange event. Now instead of fighting each other, students have to protect each other from the attacking cursed spirits. The cursed spirits team has already erected an Anti-Gojou barrier that lets everyone in or out but keeps Gojou out.

Their motives are not yet clear, but given that they attacked the students, they might have plans that included killing all of them. But for now, we are not yet sure what they intend to do with Gojou. They have kept him out of the fight while they take down the students one by one. But the Jujutsu tech sorcerers are all on the move, so this is likely just the beginning. With Gojou out of the fight, maybe they intend to deal with him last when all sorcerers have fallen, then they can ambush him.

With about six more episodes left for the season, this will be the last arc of the anime before the season ends. So whatever happens, these fights will be as far as things go this season. We have seen how the Kyoto students are, and the controversies between the student’s bodies are clear. But after this incident, maybe their take on Itadori will change as they now fight alongside him to survive.

Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 20 will release next week with more developments in the ongoing fights. The anime will be streaming online on Crunchyroll and Funimation as usual. So far, the anime has portrayed Gojou as the ultimate sorcerer. But the principal of the school seems capable as well, so this time it will be his turn.

Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 19: Todou and Itadori vs. Higher Grade Cursed Spirit

Itadori and Todo Vs Cursed Spirit

Last time Megumi and his group were on the run, while Todou and Itadori were busy brawling and making best friends out of each other. Their plan was to try and outrun the higher grade cursed spirit until they make it out of the barrier. But the cursed spirit proved to be too powerful for the four of them and barely made it. Lucky for them Maki was nearby and managed to rescue them. She teamed up with Megumi and managed to keep the cursed spirit at bay.

This was until the cursed spirit used one of its cursed energy draining ability and implanted seedlings on both Megumi and Maki. With this, they were unable to use curse energy techniques meaning they were out of the fight. But just before they were killed. Itadori and Todou appeared and rescued them. They have the upper hand since they have already seen its annoying ability already.

But the cursed spirit seems to have a trick up its sleeve and possess multiple abilities that most of which are still unknown. Itadori and Todou tagged well in their teamwork and managed to push the cursed spirit to use one of its secret techniques. It carried something on its shoulder and covered it with a cloth. And when it finally uncovered it, it was just a flower growing from its shoulder.

Now taking the fight seriously, the spirit intends to fight with its full power. And this time, Todou steps up as well as last time; he was only supporting Itadori. We have not yet seen Todou’s techniques, but he just taught Itadori a very powerful skill. So he still has something to show as well.

Jujutsu Kaisen Epsode 20 and Updates

In the next episode, Todou and Itadori go all out. It is here where we will likely see Todou’s techniques in action. There are still other fronts to be shown so that anime is likely to transition to the next. The Kyoto principal appears to be old, but he seems skilled enough in cursed techniques. His techniques rely on music, so he carries some sort of a guitar with him. We have not seen him fight in the anime yet, so his fight might receive more screen time in the next episode.
