CW has been churning out some great superhero content, and The Batwoman series is one of them. Season 2 just rolled around, and there have been some great episodes being released. Let’s take a look at the upcoming 4th episode. But before we jump into the fourth episode, let’s learn a little more about the series.
Behind The Scenes
Developed by Caroline Dries, Batwoman is an American superhero show on CW. Back in 2018, the character of Batwoman made an appearance on the Arrowverse, particularly on Elseworlds.
After much request and popularity for the character, followed by a strong script from the creator, we now have a Batwoman series. We saw Ruby Rose dawn the character of Batwoman on the first season, but she departed from the series before the second season started.
We didn’t get much information from Rose on why she left, but she did state that a back injury and the surgery needed for that were one of the reasons. After Rose left, the producers were on for the next Batwoman. They did specify they are committed to finding a female lead from the LGBTQ community.
Later it was revealed that the character which Ruby Rose played, Kate Kane, would be replaced completely and that a new Batwoman would take her place. This was done out of respect for Rose and the dedication she put in towards her work. It was also stated that Kat’s Batwoman wouldn’t be killed off and that disappearance is going to play a key part in season 2. Towards the end of June, Javilia Leslie was cast as the new lead for the Batwoman series.
The series picks up after the iconic Bruce Wayne is gone, when we say go, he isn’t dead, he’s just missing from the scene due to some unknown reasons. With Bruce Wayne gone, it means our Batman is gone, and with Batman gone, crime in Gotham City would flourish to new limits.
But all hope is not lost for Gotham as Kate Kane is there to dawn the title of Batwoman. She takes the place of Gotham’s previous hero and vows to protect the city from all evil. The main villain that she goes against in the first season is none other than her sister Alice, who was thought to be dead.
When season 2 rolls around, we find out that the airplane in which Kate was traveling crashes somewhere. Her Batsuit is found by the new protagonist, an ex-con named Ryan Wilder. But the freaky part is that her body wasn’t anywhere to be found. Now looking back to the fact that the creators of the series started, Kate’s departure signifies something very serious to the show would mean she might make a slight appearance again.
Now with Kate gone and the fact that Alice has meddled with Ryan’s life as well, she dawns on the role of Batwoman. Now a new Batwoman has entered the streets of Gotham, but she’s not the only new face. Safiyah Sohail, a friend of Alice, is also making an appearance.
Alice won’t be the only threat that our new Batwoman would have to deal with. Black Mask is also in the picture for season 2, so the False Face Society will be a huge pain in the back for Ryan.
Episode 4 will be titled Fair Skin, Blue Eyes. For this premise, we know that Batwoman will be trying to stop Snake Bite from ruining Gotham City. It is also mentioned that she will have an encounter that reminds her of her very painful past.
We have seen a lot of Kate’s influence on the show even after her departure. But the creators are making sure that this influence is going to sideline our current main protagonist, Ryan. For the upcoming fourth episode, it is also mentioned that she is going to make sure no one like her is going to go unnoticed, whatever that means we will find out when the episode drops.
The fourth episode saw some delay, and no, it is not because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Surprisingly, a show was delayed not because of the pandemic and for some other reason. It was delayed because of the Super Bowl, airing during the Super Bowl would be a hard hit on the show’s ratings. Episode 4 of Batwom’s Season 2 will be released on February 14th, 2021.
