Dr. Stone is a Japanese manga series illustrated by Boichi and written by Riichiro Inagaki. From March 2017 to March 2022, it was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump, with chapters collected in twenty-five tankōbon volumes as of March 2022. Manga publisher Viz Media has licensed the manga in North America, where it tells the story of Senku Ishigami, a teenage scientist who is determined to rebuild civilization after humans have been frozen for 3,700 years. A TV series adaptation adapted from the anime was aired from July to December 2019 by TMS Entertainment. A second season of the anime series focused on the “Stone Wars” arc aired from January to March 2021. A third season will premiere in April 2023. In July 2022, Dr. Stone: Ryusui premiered on television. The anime begins with Dr. Stone going about his typical school life, declaring his affections, and so on…but this is far from the topic… The basic concept is to restore technology and human civilization. In a burst of green light, all of humanity on Earth is petrified approximately 3700 years later. A science-obsessed student, in fact, a genius, is among the first to be resurrected some 3700 years later. The anime depicts his journey to restore civilization to its current level and beyond.

The True Importance of Non-Scientists in Dr. Stone
Without Senku, there would have been no revived petrified humanity in Dr. Stone. The residents of Ishigami Village were probably imprisoned in the Stone Age for another 3,700 years. Senku leverages his extensive scientific understanding in conjunction with societal reconstruction to address a variety of more pressing issues. Characters who are not scientists run the risk of being ignored as being of little significance because science is employed so frequently in this series to solve issues. Senku’s position, on the other hand, is the most visible and vital, even though those who don’t know all about science are worthless. It is especially difficult for the rest of the actors because the tale is meant to make science the only thing capable of saving the planet. Dr. Stone is a prominent figure in a variety of scientific discoveries, advancements, and practical applications. As a consequence, the most recent discovery or idea resolves practically any issue or impediment.
The reason Kohaku never won a crucial fight despite being one of the greatest warriors in the Stone World is probably because of this. Ishigami Village, which was 3,700 years ahead of Senku, never advanced technologically; rather, they dismissed science as witchcraft. While Senku relies on science to resolve disputes like these, it makes everyone else seem powerless in comparison. He was the only individual in Ishigami Village who was better off following his rebirth, given Senku’s physical restrictions. For example, in video games, if you take the character in question, he dumps all of his stat boosts into intelligence, so his other stats remain at a base level. It is useless to have all the knowledge in the world without the power to apply it. Senku had to make or resurrect pals in the Stone World before he could make much headway. Senku was able to acquire resources and do tasks thanks to their support. However, this does not exclude Senku from participating if necessary. What important is that he coordinates the cast and collaborates with them to achieve their goals.

Kaseki’s skill was utilized in several of the series’ most complicated creations, particularly ones constructed of glass. Senku also made advantage of the other characters’ expertise in their disciplines. When Senku was constructing his resurrection drink, Taiju recommended utilizing grapes as a source of alcohol. As a result of the lessons Senku taught him, Chrome recreated things like the waterwheel and sodium hypochlorite; this is particularly impressive given that he had no prior knowledge of these things, unlike Senku and the other resurrected humans. Senku could not have found solutions to certain problems without the help of amateur scientists. Surprisingly, just a few characters still suffer rough treatment in the scientific realm: warriors. Because the plot demands science to solve all issues, soldiers are rarely permitted to win important wars. It is rare for them to utilize their authority to do scientific research while others are unable. This power dynamic would be entirely inverted if there was another Shonen Jump manga.
Science also uses non-scientists to represent the knowledge and intelligence of the average person as a narrative device. Senku has a bad habit of explaining science in a way that makes listeners sound stupid for not understanding it. It is made clear to the audience by the rest of the cast that they don’t have to feel alone if they feel lost. For example, Gen’s emotions mirror how a regular human would respond to Senku’s statements if he had lived with contemporary technology but just had a passing comprehension of it; a revived person who has lived with modern technology but has little or no knowledge of it.
Audiences are required to understand the fundamentals of science, but not complex topics such as chemical compounds or phone mechanics. Even though Senku is the smartest man alive, he is dependent on everyone else as much as they are dependent on him. He provides the science, but everyone else provides the labor and other skills that enable his visions to be realized. Everyone in the Stone World must collaborate to achieve mind-body harmony. Without the aid of these exceptional people, Senku’s goal of restoring mankind could not have been accomplished. Both of them are equally dependent on the other.
