The Blacklist series has been running for some time now. The show has now become one of the most liked crime dramas ever, people just love the concept of the whole film and the characters. The turn of events, twists, and sudden show-ups are all the best parts of the series. Right now the sixth season of the show is being broadcast all over the world, and it has been, without a doubt making waves. The eighth season is turning out to be one of the best so far.
For people who don’t know much about this series, let’s quickly run through the basics of the show then jump right into details about the upcoming episode.
Behind The Scenes
This American crime thriller television series created by Jon Bokenkamp started airing all the way back on September 13th, 2013. From that day on, people were hooked, the actors gave us a phenomenal performance, and the story was on another level. We hadn’t seen such a gripping concept recently.
We have the iconic James Spader and Megan Boone in the frontline of the cast. The show started back in 2013 but is still flying high. The first season itself made a lasting impression on people.
The viewing records were off the charts, which pushed the network to keep on renewing multiple seasons going forward. The popularity still kept on increasing to a point where a spin-off was also ordered while the main series was still going on. But that spin-off didn’t work out as planned and ended up getting canceled.
But the spin-off getting canceled had no effect on the main series. Blacklist was still going strong as one of the best crime shows of all time. The only break the show took was when Covid-19 hit the world, but even the pandemic couldn’t keep this show from laying still. The eighth season started airing by November of 2020.
The best part of the show is its incredibly gripping story. Let’s quickly run through the framework, skip this part if you are planning to watch the show for the first time.
20 years ago, a US Naval Intelligence officer by the name of Raymond “Red” Reddington disappeared. In the span of 20 years, he made a name for himself, and not a good one. He went on to become the most wanted criminal on the FBI’s blacklist.
But in a surprising turn of events, the dangerous human surrendered to the FBI. he was taken to a special location for further questioning. His surrender was odd in the first place, the demands he makes later turn out to be much odder. One of the most dangerous criminals in the world wants to help the FBI look for other dangerous criminals.
Yes, Raymond wants to help the FBI track down and apprehend the world’s most dangerous people. People he has worked with during these 20 years, people who are so dangerous and powerful that even the government has no data on them even existing.
But like every deal laid out by a criminal, there are conditions. Red has 2 of them, one being he will be immune to any prosecution for the crimes he has committed over the years and that he will be able to work with Elizabeth Keene, a rookie who has just been assigned to the FBI. Here starts their adventure to find and apprehend some very bad criminals.
The eighth season like we said, premiered in November in 2020. With the pandemic ongoing, the production for this season started in September 2020 with everything following Covid protocols.
Season 8 Episode 7
The previous episode, which aired on February 19th, was titled “Chemical Mary”. In this episode, we saw Red getting some information about Keen. He learns that Keen may have been using the Freelancer and a dealer who specializes in chemical weapons called Mary.
So they split into two where Red tracks down the Freelancer and the task force goes behind Mary. After Red is successful in capturing the Freelancer, they find out about a scheme that involves Mary and the plane that will crash.
The task force put a stop to this, and like in true Blacklist fashion, this was all a play by Keen. She wanted Red to find the Freelancer and stop the plane crash, all while Keen would kidnap Mary. On the other side of things, Copper finds the USB he has uncovered needs a thumb impression. With Red’s thumb’s copy, he unlocks it.
