Spy x Family: Chapter 77 Recap
In the previous episode, we see Cecile Hall’s Tutor in residence, Thomas Austin waking up in cold sweat after a nightmare. It seems like Thomas has been in a constant state of anxiety ever since the bus hijacking incident took place. Thomas is contemplating ways of fixing his anxiety when he remembers the psychiatrist that Mr. Henderson recommended.
The psychiatrist is none other than Lloyd Forger himself. Lloyd accepts Thomas as his patient since being a resident tutor, he is very close to the students, and with his 30 years of tenure, he must have made a lot of powerful connections. Lloyd realizes that having a man like that indebted to him will be beneficial in the future and determines to nip the cause of his anxiety at the root.
As the session proceeds, Llyod realizes that Thomas is lying about his situation and that the hijacking incident is not the main cause of his anxiety. Lloyd talks to Thomas’ colleagues and acquaintances and gathers that Thomas had shown these symptoms since way before the incident took place.
When Llyod confronts Thomas, Thomas reveals that he is actually very scared of his wife. Thomas continues saying that his wife often says mean things to him and seemingly hates him. Lloyd realizes that Thomas’ wife’s resentment stems from his lack of participation in his marriage and household. Lloyd encourages Thomas to open a clear channel of communication between himself and his wife to work on issues that she has.
