What Happened In The Series So Far?
During the pandemic days, who hasn’t wondered what the post-pandemic world would look like? Since the show is set in a close-futuristic world, it draws some interest in people. The political thriller series shows us a world where US Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been replaced. It revolves around Saara Parvin, a bright graduate who joined for work experience and the GCHQ intern. The atmosphere starts to get tense when Saara is thrown to face the inconveniences caused by a cyber attack from an unknown source. It gives Saara a perfect chance to prove herself. However, some people did find the series slow-paced and lacking in intensity. With some of the repeated dialogues, the pace of the series seems even slower.
The events at the end of the series tease make a return soon. The end shows Saara is in search of a file containing secrets of the Russian state. In an interview, The Undeclared War actress Hannah Khalique-Brown acknowledged the cliffhanger. She brought some hope when she said, “I really hope we can we can continue the story because in almost every aspect of it there’s unanswered questions.”
The idea of The Undeclared War seems very ambitious, but something has gone wrong in the application of that idea. Let us see if the second season can redeem itself.
When Is The Undeclared War Releasing?
As of now, there’s no official news of the release of The Undeclared War season 2. It is understandable because season 1 just ended in August 2022. Peter Kosminsky has revealed what goes on behind the scenes while making a full-fledged thriller series. A lot of time is spent researching and writing the series since it is so close to reality. Reports say that it took about three years for Kosminsky to research and discuss with experts to avoid any plot holes. Though the series has its shortcomings, there’s always a curiosity to know what happens next with Saara Parvin.
The actress herself has expressed her excitement about season 2 as well. In an interview, she said she couldn’t wait to learn what happens with Saara and Vadim next. Khalique-Brown mirrors the fans’ wishes, “I really hope he survived somehow, miraculously; I have no idea how but I really hope he does.” She is rooting for Kathy and Saara as well, “I want to know what happens with Kathy and Saara, and James and Saara – their relationship is left on a cliffhanger. She hasn’t been able to see Kathy because she flew back to Maryland. And she’s not had that conversation, and I want to know what happens.”
For season 2, the actors and actresses who will supposedly make a return are Hannah Khalique-Brown, Edward Holcroft, Simon Pegg, Adrian Lester, Alex Jennings, Kerry Godliman, and many more. With the fans and the actors’ equal excitement regarding the future of the show, we can only hope that The Undeclared War makes a return soon.
