Pokemon GO Community Day Event

Pokemon GO finally launched its first 2018 surprise. Data miner confirmed that Niantic the parent company behind Pokemon Go finally added something new and exciting for the players. In the spirit of Pokémon Go’s early days, Niantic is encouraging players to come together with official monthly meetups in a new initiative it’s calling Pokémon Go Community Day. The first Community Day kicks off on January 20th and will feature double XP for trainers and unique items as well as special pokémon with unique abilities for trainers to hunt down.

Niantic has announced Pokémon Go Community Days, a new global event initiative, designed to encourage local meet-ups and bring players together once a month.”Pokémon GO Community Day is an opportunity for Trainers around the world to meet up at their local parks to make new friends and experience what it means to be a part of this special community”, explains Niantic in its Community Day launch announcement.

For January’s event, Niantic has already confirmed the special Pokemon will be Surfing Pikachu. This Pikachu first appeared in Pokemon Yellow as part of a minigame called Pikachu’s Beach–it remains in the games today as a Pikachu with the move Surf.

The event will last for three hours across the world at local parks; players in the US should expect the event to last from 11 AM to 2 PM PT. “We’re constantly blown away by the passion of Pokémon Go players around the world, and we hope that each Pokémon Go Community Day will help add to the excitement of local events and meetups,” Niantic said. “Remember always to be alert and stay safe while playing and to be respectful of public spaces when exploring your community.”

The January 20 Community Days event times are as follows:

  • Asia-Pacific: Noon to 3:00 PM JST
  • Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India: 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM UTC
  • The Americas and Greenland: 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM PST

Niantic pushed community events last summer, which it referred to them as “very much an experiment” for future events. The developer’s efforts to revitalize group meetups are a clear callback to the initial frenzy of Pokémon Go when players would flock to local parks or attend player-initiated bar crawls. When Niantic tried to hold its own official event last summer, the day quickly soured as server and internet issues made the game unplayable and the crowds rowdy.

Monthly meetups may not come with all the bells and whistles promised by one giant gathering, but smaller crowds and no admission price make these events far more likely to succeed. Whether or not they can recapture the spirit of the original Pokémon Go launch roughly two years ago remains to be seen.

Expect Future Events Like This In Pokemon Go

Niantic urged Trainers to share their experiences on their favorite social media channels with the hashtag #PokemonGOCommunityDay. “We can’t wait to hear about all the new memories you’ll be making while playing Pokémon GO at Community Day events!”,Niantic’s post read.

We can clearly see Niantic is actively expanding the Pokemon GO development team to build many more amazing updates in 2018.Stay tuned for first-ever Community Day Event. What are your thoughts on this event?Lemme hear you guys out in the comments or you can get connected with me on Snapchat-Vibsz16 and Instagram. Before you trainers get too excited about a Shiny Kyogre, we should note that 3D image assets exist for Shiny versions of all of Pokemon Go Legendary Pokemon, even though we haven’t actually seen a Shiny Legendary in the wild yet.

Kyogre appeared in promotional art announcing the addition of 20 new Water-Type Pokemon to the game. While some assumed that Kyogre would get a holiday release, it appears that Pokemon Go is holding off until Groudon leaves the game on January 14th.

Now Niantic posted about Kyogre is globally available.Kyogre will only be available until…..
