Game of Thrones Season 8 has officially begun work on its production. The pre-production was going on for quite some time, and earlier, it was revealed that the filming for Season 8 would begin in the middle of October.
On October 8, table reads for Season 8 of the series began, where they did the first three episodes and later, on October 9, the final three episodes of the series were covered. Now that they’re done with table reads, everyone should know what they’re heading in to. The rehearsal for Game of Thrones Season 8 is now underway, and it will probably go on for about 6 more days.
But, the filming for Season 8 will begin next week, and from what he hear, it will definitely take up to atleast May. It may even take longer, but according to Davos Seaworth, Game of Thrones Season 8 might end filming right when summer arrives. Davos revealed a lot of stuff recently, and he has been quite honest as well. In an interview with TV Guide, he said:
“[The episodes are] definitely going to be bigger and what I hear is longer. We’re filming right up until the summer. When you think about it, up until last season we’d have six months to do ten episodes, so we’re [doing] way more than that for six episodes. So that obviously will translate into longer episodes.”
While he mainly did talk about the length of the epsiodes, the key sentence to notice here is “We’re filming right up until the summer,” which means the filming will go on upto either May or June at the very most. After that, the work on the post-production of the show will begin, and that usually takes 2 months. But, because of extra long epsiodes, and high level action in the next season of Game of Thrones, I’m guessing it will take atleast 4 months.
So, if the filming does end in May, that would mean the post-production will be done by September. Game of Thrones might actually be hitting the screen in late 2018, which is actually a possibility. I’m not saying it’s impossible for the show to air in 2019. But, I think it’s likelier that we’ll get it by either November, of the beginning of December of 2018.

Huge GoT Season 8 Spoiler Confirms A Character Is Alive
Tormund, and his “death” have been a point of argument among the fans of Game of Thrones ever since the finale aired. When the Night King gathered his army and the Wall crumbled, his and Beric’s fate was left unknown. Tormund was asked to man Eastwatch by the Sea by Jon Snow, because that was the closest place to Hardhome, where the Night King was last seen.
Tormund survived a death scare when he went beyond the Wall with Jon Snow in order to capture a Wight. If Daenerys Targaryen had not arrived in time, they would’ve all died. Being on the brink of death in Epsiode 6, you wouldn’t think the same would happen to Tormund one episode later.
But, just one episode later, the Night King was at Eastwatch. His entire army to ready to invade Westeros, and thanks to Wight Viserion, he tore down the Wall. Most of the Eastwatch crumbled, and it appeared as if everyone died, but neither Tormund’s not Beric’s death was shown on screen.
There was a part of Eastwatch still intact towards which Tormund and Beric were running. So, many presumed him to be safe, while others argued he was dead. Now, as Game of Thrones finally began its production this week, actors from the series started gathering at Belfast. When cast members started arriving, there was a huge surprise.
The actor who plays Tormund, Kristofer Hijvu, was also spotted in Belfast, which confirms that the character didn’t die in the finale after all. He was alive all along.
Kristofer Hijvu was previously asked about his character’s fate in an interview with Digital Spy, and here’s what he had to say:
“I don’t know. I honestly don’t know. Somehow, I don’t believe it. Somehow, it looks like it’s a fall you can’t survive. But people have asked me if characters like Beric and Tormund die, why wouldn’t they show that? And then, in another way, it’s a horrible way to end a season, by killing two people and showing that death. So they kept it in the air. But still, I don’t know! He maybe dead.”
