Pokémon Go becomes the fastest mobile game to hit $500 million in revenue
Even with all the negative vibes from all of these websites, Pokémon GO continues to grow and break more records as time passes!
Pokémon Go has broken tons of records since its debut – the most downloaded app in its first week ever and the fastest to reach 50 million installs on Google Play, just to name some – but now you can add one more to that list: the fastest game to reach $500 million in revenue. According to a new report from AppAnnie.com, Pokémon Go has now surpassed $500 million in worldwide customer spending across iOS and Android, and is on track to hit a billion in revenue by year-end.
The game reached the new milestone in just over 60 days, AppAnnie.com says.
But How Is Pokémon GO’s User Retention?
The answer: pretty good! AppAnnie.com looked at the top Android phone apps by monthly active users (MAU) in the US to see which games had the top 30-day retention rates. While Pokémon GO is behind the highly addictive Words With Friends, it is ahead of mega-hits Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, and Candy Crush Saga.
The news follows Niantic Labs’ announcement at yesterday’s Apple iPhone 7 event that the game had been downloaded over 500 million times worldwide since its debut, and trainers had walked over 4.6 billion kilometers while playing. It’s now arriving on the Apple Watch, and also likely played a huge role in Apple’s related announcement that its App Store had seen 106% year-over-year growth over the course of the last two months alone.
Did I even mention that the GO Plus releases on Sept 16th, and it’s been sold out months ahead?
So It’s Still Successful, But Is It Cutting Into My App’s Usage?
It doesn’t look like the success of Pokémon GO has had a meaningful impact on time spent in non-gaming apps.
One thing’s for sure Pokémon GO has made apps from all categories sit up and take notice, with great features to come in the near future Pokémon GO will continue to grow over the next year.
You may think, well forbes and all of these other bullsh*t websites said Pokemon GO lost 79% of it’s active player base .. That’s a load of BULL. It’s more like 1/20th of it’s active players to schools because they have to spend more time studying.
Don’t believe the lies, none of these websites are credible.
